Sorry - not much fun for discussing on a Friday evening .....I suffered a UTI infection in late Oct which led to a bout of acute Prostatitis. 2 courses of antibiotics later and by late Nov the infection was nailed.

Since then (and to date) I have had only very mild Prostate pain & related symptoms off/on which tbh I can live with.......but more worryingly I have been constantly feeling fatigued, with shivers, aches and a seemingly constant low level headache/lightheadedness to boot. Research indicates these issues can be symptomatic of Prostatitis ? and that recovery can take 2-3 months. Perhaps I'm still just getting over battling the infection but feeling like this is getting me down - anyone any similar experience or advice ?

Seems to vary wildly. I was ill for months and not back to full function for maybe 6 months. Some colleagues just had 10 days of antibiotics and were fine after that. I lost 10% of kidney function and lost any sense of having a full bladder for months. I was on Ciprofloxacin and Ibuprofen for 6 weeks. Cipro was pretty horrible in itself, affected my nerves and gave me weird pins and needles. After all that I used to get really bad abdominal pain and then think, maybe I need the loo and hay presto that relieved it. Took months for everything to settle back to normal.

Whilst I was ill I bumped into a colleague and his wife (who is a GP) and she mentioned to him that he suggest I get tested for Aids. Apparently I looked so ill I looked just like an Aids patient. Whole thing ended my NPS career rather abruptly, I first fell ill after the last NPS in 2007 and missed all of the 2008 season being ill.

Footflaps that sounds terrible.
Even now that the waterworks are at 90%, I suspect I'm in for a longish haul of feeling crap.

But as IainC notes, it could be worse.

Indeed, we have a friend with terminal prostate cancer, although they can't say how long he has, could be 1, could be 10 years, but basically they can't cure it, so it will kill him at some point. Not a very nice thing to have esp not knowing how long you have, makes planning a nightmare.

On the plus side, at some point you will fully recover and it will all just be a bad memory....
