Looking to use it for nigh time trail walking, maybe country lane or off road running; thinking tikkina, viper 2, gamma 3.
What are your thoughts and recommendations?

Silva Trailrunner 2, as previously recommended.

Four Petzl Tikka's and Tikka 2's in the house - they work, but do not like wet, or have powerful beam.
I've killed three Alpkit torches in rain as well, but the beams were better (Viper and a predecessor I think).
I now have a Coleman, bought as stop gap/cheap in sale, and it's got ace beam, low coloured led settings and waterproof.

As above, one of the Silva running-specific models. Nice mixed beam with spot and flood combined plus good reliability and weather resistance ime.

In my experience, Petzl Tikka can bounce about a bit while running. Better something with the battery pack at the back, eg Petzl Myo.
