We're finally upgrading from our SD/CRT at home to a 42" flatscreen and Sky HD source. Just not sure which model to look at, any suggestions? From what I've seen, LG and Samsung are usually pretty good picture-wise, but a mate has a massive Samsung which suffers from horrible screen burn. Might as well have proper 1920x1080p capability.
Probably going to get a bluray and 5.1 surround as well, so a package deal might be quite nice.
LCD TVs shouldn't suffer from screen burn, is it a plasma
If you can stretch to it, the Panasonic HD plasmas are stunning
Sony Bravia, discussion closed (especially if you buy from John Lewis, price match and incomparable after sales support).
Maybe it is a plasma, not sure really. Seeing as we seem to keep stuff for bloody ages in our house, something that's gonna last ages would be nice - are plasma good for that or should we stick with normal LCD?
Samsung 4 out of the top 5 in Which rating...I just logged in to check
5th place is a Panasonic
What's no.1 then?!
edit - oh do you mean 4 samsung models in the top 5?
1 - Samsung UE55C8000
2 - Samsung UE40C7000
3 - Samsung LE40C650
4 - Samsung UE46C6505
5 - Panasonic Viera TX-P42S20
+1 bigG only I like Richer Sounds
When I was looking last year, I wanted a Samsumg but ruled it out on price issues (for the one I wanted).
Boiled it down to the Panasonic vs the Toshiba, compared them side by side in several shops, bought the Tosh. It's superb.
avforums.com is a good resource, but it gets very nerdy in bits and can lead you down the path of "i could pay x more and get this"
I find panasonic are very good and would get a plasma if i didn't use the tv for gaming (screen burn is still an issue for modern plasma tv's)
