Im after a HD Helmetcam from Santa, have any of you folks got one? The 2 current faves are either the ATC9K HD and the Contour HD GPS. Both do 1080P, both do the GPS tracking thang, but the ATC9K is cheaper and has a display as well as the ability to hook straight into a TV via HDMI, not to mention a fair bit cheaper. The Contour seems to be more sturdy and more compact. Im leaning toward the ATC, but want opinions if any are out there (on STW???). Not keen on the GoPro, it reminds of the Puritans off Blackadder years ago when its sat on top of peoples heads...
I've used the Contour a few times, I do various bits of video work during Sportives as part of my job and I've used it on Manchester velodrome a few times:
Good bit of kit: lightweight, very easy to take off, remount etc, simple one-finger operation and good battery life, presumably because there's no energy hungry screen to watch playback on. But it's a pain that you need to wait til you get home then plug it into a computer.
It's got a couple of little LEDs in the lens though that you can activate to show where it's pointing, it sends out 2 little red dots to line it all up so at least you know you're not going to end up with a view of the sky!
I'll be doing some in-the-bunch road race footage on it next year, be interesting to see how that turns out!
