Had a tooth out in Monday. Bloody massive thing. Didn't hurt too much at first but I was up half of last night with the pain and it's really going off now. Pretty sure the dentist said it would only hurt for a day or so, and I don't want to waste his time and rush back, but it seems to be getting worse, not better. Any one had anything similar?

They may have left a bit in. That happened to me with exactly the same results. Pop back and see the man again to make sure.

I had a wisdom tooth removed about a year ago. Hurt like hell for 2-3 days and then was not much more than a dull ache for another about two weeks.

I'd suggest phoning the dentist tomorrow and seeing what they have to say, as you shouldn't be in any real pain by now.

When I had a wisdom tooth removed, it hurt more after a few days as splinters of bone found their way though to the surface of my gum tissue. Bloody killed. Far worse than the immediate post-extraction discomfort.

You definitely need to phone the dental surgery tomorrow. It could be a condition called dry socket, which will need treatment.

Phone your dentist, dry socket is pretty rare, but after 4 days the pain shouldn't be getting any worse. Are you taking pain killers?

Strange but a dentist told me when i was kid, to eat some ice cream, and ever since after teeth out i have done, and it works for some strange reason, also ibroprofen is better than paracetemol.

Sounds like a dry socket to me - basically losing the blood clot ("scab" )in the hole leaving dry jawbone exposed. Hole then fills with food etc = ouch!

More common with lower back teeth, more often if y smoke or if it's a big tooth/difficult to remove.

Classic symptoms are pain being ok for a day or two then getting worse rather than better.

Your dentist will rinse the rubbish out of the hole and dress it which will help the pain pretty quickly usually. You shouldn't need anti biotics

Mine did not hurt at all. Sore but not hurt.

I got my tooth extracted after suffering toothache for several months.

I needed ABs. Get back there and tell them it's a warranty job.

Mine hurt a fair bit but nothing major

The fun bit was the the hole left went all the way into my nazel cavity. He plugged it but the plug fell out a few days later. Symptoms?

drinks came straight back out my nose

Hard to swallow as I couldn't seal my mouth

But he replugged it and stitched it up and it was fine

Regular tooth should be fine in a day, I was back on a building site the following morning and felt fine.

I had a wisdom tooth out last year, it was ok for 2 days then on day 3 wrecked. Ended up with a dry socket and an internet horror story. Month off work and couldn't drive, probably could have avoided it if i'd acted sooner and hadn't tried to man up

Go to your dentist tomorrow, they will have emergency appointments set aside.

In the late sixties I can remember my mum being "a bit unhappy" after having all of her top teeth out...
