Oh that looks nice. Just needs a nice slice of Wensleydale to go with that!

Yup, Mrs K has made the traditional Bajan black cake, with the fruit soaked as per traditional in rum and fortified wine since Boxing Day last year.

It’s quite heady, as per usual. 😀

Nixie’s cakes are excellent. Definitely not teetotal though!
My mother in law also makes a great Christmas cake including one for us so we don’t bother.

Yeah, the usual 9" square brick of a cake. Struggling at the icing stage though. 3 supermarket trips to find some and now with it, I just snapped the whisk and manky water like bottom bracket sludge poured out of the snapped handle into the mix. Pah. Sod it.

mariner's cake is inspiring. I'll do some of that instead. Got some animal shaped cutters. Christmas zoo ftw.

No.

But have made the usual Christmas pudding (on Stir Up Sunday, natch).

Not personally, I do most cooking but wife does the cakes. 3 birthdays also around the same time, so one christmas cake, a christmas-cake-style birthday cake, carrot cake, chocolate mousse cake, chocolate roulade and another cake we were just given yesterday, all already being eaten or under construction.

Mmmm....cake. Best reason for cycling (and running).

Mrs R has made the cakes and puddings. I made the beer and smoked salmon. Team effort.

Our cake has been wrapped in foil since last year. Rich fruit cake with fruit marinated in red wine and dark rum poured into holes skewered all over it. One half last year was good. This year's half smells scrumptious but I'm not allowed any till tomorrow's Tiffin time.

No. I don’t like any sort of fruit cake. Plus my /f doesn’t really like baking, so it’s a win for both of us.

No. I’ve just eaten my body weight in Lindor balls so I don’t need any cake on top of that 😄

Yup - make two each year, one for the family, one for a local charity.

Not this year. Nor a pudding. Circumstances conspired to make it awkward to say the least.

Have sheepishly bought both from the shops for this time round...

Back to normal next ear hopefully.

Have just made some venison sausages to Tuesday's pigs in blankets though.

You can't beat a bit of rough - icing that is.

If only I could add a pic, this site always fools me.

Ooh, it worked 🙂
