If not, why don't we do it now?

I've got rather lucky, only one event, which a friend put a bid in for (Well, we all did, but he got 'em). It's the men's MTB race. Which is nice.

8)

So, who's got tickets and what to? Someone on here must have beach volleyball, shirley! 😉

We got tickets to the womens mountain biking which was nice but then I was allocated some tickets through a BC draw and got 2 tickets to the mens mountain biking as well - so a weekend in Essex for us.
Plus a couple of £10 day passes for the paralympics.

We only won tickets for rowing, the most boring event in the world to watch live (IMO, obvs!). My ticket has been passed on to a friend of ours, and I'm sure she and Mrs Markie will enjoy their day.

Hoping to get MTB or triathlon tickets in the next round as then we can take Jr with us and just wander round.

On the bright side (scratching for a silver lining), our lack of ticket winning did lead to the purchase of a new TV...

We got tickets to a swimming session, which is cool, but not as good as the velodrome/mtb ones we were hoping for.

I'm working on the premise that it'll be awesome to go and see the Olympic park and any event, especially for the kids...

Also going to see the road race (got a box hill local friend - loverly...)

We didn't get any 🙁

However some friends have moved into a flat in Stratford with a view of the olympic stadium from the roof so we're going to go sit up there with a bbq and a bucket of beers to watch the opening ceremony fire works!

We managed to get tickets 2nd time round to see the following on the 8th Aug.:

Women's Hammer Throw Qualifying Round - Group A
Men's Pole Vault Qualifying Rounds - Groups A & B
Men's Decathlon 100m
Men's 5000m Round 1
Men's Decathlon Long Jump
Women's Hammer Throw Qualifying Round - Group B
Women's 800m Round 1
Men's Decathlon Shot Put

Bit of a mixed bag, but looking forward to seeing some of the Decathlon events, old enough to remember Daley Thompson at the 1980's 😉

Applied for quite a few events but only got the hockey. To be honest I was quite relieved as if we had got all the events it would have cost a fair bit and we probably wouldn't have had a brilliant view of the action. However we do at least have one day where we can visit the park and soak up the atmosphere and then get back home to watch all the action from the comfort of lounge along with all the close-ups an attendant commentary.

Disappointingly we didn't get any first time round, but did manage to get women's hockey, and two sessions of women's handball including the bronze medal match...
As bigdaddy said, we're taking the kids and going to the Olympic Park will be ab experience in itself.

I'm appalled by the whole thing and will be out of the country for the duration. How they feel they can charge for any of it is beyond me.

The whole thing stinks, they can poke it....

Didn't get any ticketage, but looking forward to the TV coverage throughout the summer, plus the Tour of French.

I didn't bother with any of this applying for tickets lark.
Cos I'm working at the Track and MTB events. 🙂

My brother, who now lives in London (we're Glaswegians), has tickets to the volleyball. Ironically, we're away on his stag do that weekend, so his missus & a friend are going in his place. 😥

And you

I'm sorry but I just find the amount of money being spent repulsive. That, combined with the ticket lucky-dip, paying to watch events and so on as some massive commercial enterprise is offensive to say the least.

Each to their own, buy your tickets, watch your events, praise everyone for how well they've done. Maybe you'll even forget about the financial crisis/doom that we're in at the moment for a couple of weeks whilst its on. I mean, what better way to ignore the problem than to compound it by spending more money.

Prior to the Atlanta games, they erected a fence next to the slums so that people driving in on the freeway couldn't see the poverty. But of course we haven't done anything like that here....

Brother works for a BT subsidiary, so put in for the corporate ticket draw. You'll never guess what?

I'll be "going" to the road cycling. Only have to move as far as the first floor lounge window, mind.

Off of the other thread

I don't understand how anyone can think it's a good idea to charge people to stand outside in public to watch an event

hmmm

I'm going to take 2 days off to watch the Men's and women's TT as its only 15 minutes away by bike, and then of course the road race pretty much goes past the end of the road.

Applied for loads and got 2 tickets for a session of the boxing, which I'm pretty pleased with, but only considering that I know loads of people who got nothing.
I can't believe that you need tickets for the mountain biking, let alone the road racing - sham.
I was going to take my son to the boxing, but he'll only be 3 months old...

Football at Wembley, beach volleyball, archery, and boxing.
Really looking forward to it 🙂
Possibly athletics too, although unlikely, depending on whether my wife picks me or her sister.
And the road race.

Lemon and sugar too.

Got tickets for the athletics on the 6th Aug. Will see the 100m final medal ceremony! Just looking forward to seeing the stadium and the Olympic park.

Didn't get tickets for the Judo which was annoying as I applied for 4 sessions.

My wife is working on the equestrian side and will be there for both Olympics and Paras.

The test event was pretty amazing and the cross country will be great to watch.

Lemon and sugar is good but try Nutella. Mmmm tasty!
