No business/revenue critical functions should be managed via a spreadsheet in a company with more than 10 employees (IMO).

I think that rule would cripple a lot of essential business change. I've worked on lots of big projects where a spreadsheet is an appropriate solution for some key tasks. You have to be sensible about the risks and safeguards and only use them where appropriate.
