Another one of those names i see more and more, but know nothing about, Andrew Tate seems to be the current online alpha dog, taking over from Dan Bilserian or whatever his name is, or the liver king, or god knows, there's so many of them about, no talent, no skills, just lots of lying and pretending to try and actually make money to buy some of those lies.

Like AA, I find he is increasingly mentioned by the lads at school in a positive way, and it's very difficult to debate the issues he creates in an effective way (FWIW I'm pretty blunt with students about what my view of him and his ideas is, and thankfully have the backup of our whole-school response to him being discussed by students).
His views are not the issue, repugnant as they are. It's the fact they are dressed up in the trappings of what a lot of teenage boys see as an aspirational lifestyle (cars, clothes, glamorous locations, etc.). The 'marketing' is sadly quite clever and plays on the insecurities of being a 13-16 year old boy all too well in the pursuit of clicks and monetising his social media accounts.
This Taint guy has some sort of pyramid marketing grift aimed at 13 year old boys and incels. He's been raided again.

Plenty of social media promoting "gangster cool" or with people showing show off their wealth surrounding by women. This "gangster cool" seems to originate from the US gangster culture and many people like them especially young people. There must be some strong desire for people to be rich quick with power to do as they wish.
What you can do is ask your students where did he get his money from? Even as a competitive sportsman (this bloke) surely his money could finish spending the way he is. He could have invested in a business that requires some work but he opted for the quick income.
You can also ask your students if they are rich what will they do with their money. i.e. will they invest in moral or immoral business (law breaking), even when they can get away with the latter.

Luckily, the overriding school culture we try to promote is one of inclusivity and mutual respect so we have a set of shared values that the students understand (even if they sometimes struggle to uphold them) to build the conversations on. It's pretty clear that what Tate preaches runs counter to our desired school values so it;s easy to throw them into quite an unflattering contrast.
interesting (and worrying) though, that those lads that do look up to him the most are VERY difficult to shift in their thinking. They repeat his views as fact and will not really listen to reasonable counter arguments - there's a real 'flat earther' feel to their investment in his worldview.

While watching parliamentary debate of another country on youtube (looks like circus with politicians shouting at each others), I noticed there is a TikTok section on youtube where a lot of short video clips of people promoting themselves. These short clips seem to "get to the point" but all are just skin deep. Problem with people watching them consider them as instant fix without understanding the activities behind them. Not all are bad but some just need to be investigated further. I think this bloke has started presenting his "wisdom" of the way he "made it", but I try to think of what exactly he is trying to promote i.e. his strip joint or his MLM or both by using his profile to make himself as the "cult" character.

I think back to my teenage years when lads mags were at their peak. While they all featured women in various states of undress, none of them, even the most controversial like Loaded, ever mentioned or promoted the downright hatred, threats of violence and bile openly spouted by the likes of Tate and his followers.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance will have been deeply feared by the vast majority of the population, whatever their ages, during their reign of terror, similarly Bonny and Clyde during their murdering spree. Whatever Hollywood decided to portray decades later for their blockbusters.
Al Capone likewise would have ruled by fear, I haven't seen much evidence that he was a hero to a significant portion of the population, or any Hollywood film to suggest that was the case.
I don't know anything about Bertrand Cantat but Phil Spector received respect due to his undoubted musical talents, it had nothing to do with his crimes which were not publicly known.
Similarly the public recognition which Jimmy Savill received had nothing to do with the fact that he was a prolific paedophile, it was not a publicly known fact.
In contrast with all that Andrew Tate is apparently currently idolised by millions, despite his very publicly aired flawed personality.

I think the poetic justice thing with the pizza boxes is just online speculation.
No doubt Romanian authorities have more sophisticated methods of knowing whether wanted British nationals have entered the country, and whether to go to a villa to make arrests in connection with organised crime allegations.
I suspect that the making of the video coincided with a recent re-entry into the country which the authorities had been waiting for. If they didn't initially respond immediately it might be because it was to coordinate it with a couple of other arrests.
