Just been pleasantly surprised by Defendor on Netflix, and realised that I don't think that I've seen Woody Harrelson in a bad film. Prove me wrong! 🙂

Defendor is brilliant, an absolute hidden gem of a film.

Woody Harrelson however has done far more than his fair share of shit, he just lucks out from time to time with a role that is within his range.

You must have misunderstood: That is not a bad film by any stretch of the imagination.

Other than actors that have only ever done one film that happened to be good, once an actor has been in the business for as long as Harrelson, there's bound to be more than a few turkeys in there. His facial gestures have become more pronounced as he's got older - they were pretty bloody annoying in True Detective.

If you didn't catch it at the time, Rampart was one of the good things he's done recently.

I hated it when it came out. But I haven't seen it since. NBK that is.

It's films, it's subjective. I thought both NBK and Rampart were both excellent. Though I haven't seen NBK in a long long time...I must give it another watch sometime...if only for The Cowboy Junkies' version of Sweet Jane. 🙂

Nope - it was poor. Normally a big Coen brothers fan too.

Grosse Pointe Break.

Isn't that the follow up to Grosse Pointe Blank, where Keanu Reeves took over his role

Cusack?

*does quick IMDB scan*

Nah, he's been in plenty of good stuff. Anybody remember The Grifters?

Surprisingly, he's been in shedloads of shite though.

A sonographer allowed me to view the ultrasound of my burst appendix. It was a better watch than Indecent Proposal.

Kingpin was fantastic.

Ever watch past the end credits?

Laurence Fishburne has starred in some pretty cool films

Grum you know you said something daft and the One Direction defence is just weak, now go and have a long hard think about things.

Laurence Fishburne is unrecognisable in Apocalypse Now

I normally go with Rotten Tomatoes as a good guide. It looks panned though?

Saying that one of my all time greats was panned http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/savior/

Which is why it's better to find a few reviewers with whose opinion on films you tend to agree and just read their reviews. Film review website metascores are not to be trusted IME.

Another vote for NBK being crap, and I *really* tried to like it. Twice. It was crap. Wasn't overly impressed with NCFOM either for that matter

the people vs larry flint - is not very good because it's just dull, even tho woody harrelson is quite good in it

I walked out of the cinema during NBK, the only other film I've done that to was Harlem Nights.
Woody surely has a slightly better list of good roles and films than Nic Cage - but TBH that's not saying much.

Rampart is average at best but worth watching for his performance alone.

I rated Rampart pretty highly, but whoever wrote the claim in the trailer above:

"The most corrupt cop you'll see on screen"

obviously never watched The Shield.

Interestingly, the Shield was originally titled "Rampart", but they changed it when they realised nobody outside LA knew what it referred to.
