5 ish years old, what do you think?

Im no mechanic, is that just fair wear and tear or signs of other issues ?

Taken from a Mountfield lawn mower that’s had zero maintenance in its life

Im hoping the pic appears somewhere on the thread at some point in the future, but I can’t see it yet 🤷‍♂️

Wire brush or sharp tongue.

Just looks like a bit of build-up of gunk – give it a good clean and a wire brush (as mentioned above), however it does look a bit oily so there may be some engine wear contributing to the issue. How old is it? (Or is the 'five years' a reference to the mower, not the spark plug)?

I'll second the 'too much oil', is it 2 stroke?

Those engines dislike working on a cross slope and somehow oil gets into the air intake. If this happens regularly and the engine is not run for a good length then carbon does build up on the plug instead of getting burnt off. Try a new plug and check your oil level, fit a new air filter.

Run it on Shell V-Power for a while 😉. I tried in our mower for a laugh and it revved it's t*ts off!

Burn it off on a gas hob and then wire brush, always stick to a Champion or Ngk or Bosch

10 Chinese plugs off Amazon for 30p are crap

My spark has returned !

Well Amazon delivered it. New spark plug in and it started first time !

I assume now I will see a significant increase in mpg 😂

I'm reasonably confident that's an oil leak.
