Fella seems to have crappy luck/circumstances at times. This time it wasn't even in a sprint. He must be getting proper fed up !

Usually I like to save my judgement thoughts for Teejay, but Cav is giving him some competition so far this season!

there should be one of those websites;

hasmarkcavendishcrashedtoday.com

Where the whole site is usually a 'YES' page but with the occasional 'NO'.

I love Tejay because the commentators* talked him up so much and he disappointed every single time. I'd swear he couldn't win a sprint against me once a commentator had named him as the favourite.

*presumably only the English speaking commentators. The other nations must have their own favourite crap sprinters to champion?

Interesting to note that he wasn't on a TT bike, so what Rolf Aldag said about having all of your weight on the front isn't quite so relevant. I wonder if DD weren't taking the TTT as seriously as other teams, hence not all riders being on TT bikes.

Cheers, Rich

@turboferret Just to clarify, the team were all using TT bikes for the race. Mark finished on his road bike only after the crash. I am the sports scientist for Dimension Data and I was in the car behind the riders. Jon

Nice shoulder notch. Got one myself to match on the opposite shoulder. Hope he heals fast.

And there is plenty of science in sport.

He said science isn't a sport. (I had to re-read it as well.)

I also have a shoulder notch. I'd guess there'd be quite a few on a cycling forum. 🙂

Are SIS still going?

Always hated the sickly sweet gunk they produced.

Each to their own, works well for me. Torq gave me the shits and it took me a while to work out I have an issue with Apricots.

I just completed a 40kk TT in 50 mins myself, albeit on Zwift. 😉

Just had a look at the team listings, eight doctors for forty riders, it must be pretty bad for you this cycling lark, or they go round the hospital wards forcing people onto bikes to get people on their team.

If darts is a sport, then science can be a sport. "And it's great britain, taking their final shot at gold in the 100 metres Confirmation Of Initial Hypothesis By Experimentation... steady... oh no, the lines diverge!"

Yeah he went down hard.

Sorry have to say rider error not bad "road Furniture" like euro-sport was trying to make out!!

Apart from that it was a good race.

You can see why the big thing should have been flagged, but, it was very big and yellow too.

Rider error? Come on, no way he could have seen that in the bunch.

Anyway, crash looked nasty, hoping he's not too badly damaged.

that view does show it v well, but the big yellow thing was on a raised (but low) curb/island which normally means something is on it (lampost, road sign etc) So to just follow someone with out looking is more rider error than anything else.

Kind of gross to start chucking blame around from our armchairs when we don't even know if the poor guy is ok. Two hours and no word from DiData, not a good sign. Really hope he's alright. 🙁

OK so according to Brian Smith Cav's not got any serious injuries. Carry on...

I blame whoever's wheel it was that he was following for taking a shit line.

That was probably the best result from the crash, a head on, over the bars, unclip and do a roll onto your back.

I've done similar on the MTB when my front wheel caught in a hidden rut at speed. It’s quite a rush when you’re in the air, spotting where you will land. At least I was on grass so the landing was softer than Cav’s.
