How long did it take to get it back?

Mine expired in Feb but I might need to travel for work in early August. Oops

Could always opt for the express service or whatever it's called.
Although I dare say the passport office isn't particularly overrun if you get on it right away.

Yep- Mrs FB had to renew hers in the last month or two & the new one is blue*. She only knew it expired as she needed it to renew her driving licence.

* I remember when red passports were introduced- gammons could buy covers that looked like the old passport to put the new one in. When I have to get a new passport, I'm tempted to stick my old red cover over the blue one.

Renewed my 10 year one last year. It still says European and is a red one. Just probably not going to use it for awhile. Took a week to arrive.

Did mine a couple of weeks ago. Filled out the renewal online and posted my old one back on a Thursday and received the new one back on the following Wednesday. It’s blue (black) and looks cheap and shoddy though!

Renewed the daughters a few months ago. Less than two weeks. All electronic. Go to a local photo place and they can take the photo and send it directly into the passport office and give you a code. Then when you fill out the application on line for the photo you provide the code and its already on their database. Super efficient and super quick.

Mine took a couple of weeks but there was some kerfuffle as they wanted my Kiwi passport in the post with the application (no chance in hell, unlawful etc) so had to send some more information and pics etc and a bit of to and fro. That was last week so way under the 10 weeks they are saying at the moment. If you application is simple you should be fine.

Hi, did mine via the local post office a week last Friday (25th). Got an email today saying they've approved my renewal and are sending me new one today. Looks like 10 days is about right at the moment.

About a week via the PO. Looks cheap and flimsy, quite appropriately

I'm as Bremoaner as they come, but the new ones' hard plastic photo page is quite snazzy (and European) and I'll even say I like the colour. Wasn't worth Brexiting for though...

Took about 10 days. The "person swearing they they know you" bit is done through an online form instead of signing the back of the photo now - probably a bit more sensible but the interface didn't work well for either of my witnesses...

Still waiting here after they received the documents on the 13th May. It's taken them a month to reply to my email and their reply is "we can't discuss passport renewals by email". I have no idea what they actually need, and despite the covering letter having my email address and phone number on it they haven't been bothered to give me the courtesy of explaining what's gone wrong.

You can get hold of a call centre by phone but they can only email the actual office. Four phone calls in the last two months and they've not had a single reply from the Liverpool PO.

Almost certain that I'm going to be put on unpaid leave from next week since there's no chance of it arriving in time.

I travel a lot for work and have multiple passports so I use the express interview service. Pre Covid you could get a passport same day but its now a 7 day service. Went for an interview at the office near London Victoria station, other locations are available, with all of the relevant paperwork and passport arrived by post 7 days later.

Mine needs sorting, how do they deliver them now? Do you need to be in to sign for /physically accept them or do they just put through the door?

So does that mean someone has to be physically there to receive it?

Yup. Few months ago got 3x Australian passports following our Citizenship Ceremony.

not that we're allowed to travel internationally.... Or internally at the moment. WA trying to lock down and close borders from the Delta variant outbreak over East.
