I’ve been doing sales for too long now and as I’ve recently lost my job (boo boo) now is the time for a career change. I m considering studying with CIPS (procurement and supply) and becoming a buyer. I’ve a lot of transferable skills I believe and it will be a lot less travelling. The buyers who I’ve been selling to recently have all said it’s a great career.
Has anybody studied with CIPA? It is absolutely necessary to achieve this qualification to enter into the world of procurement? How long did it take?
Sharing experiences and advice is much appreciated and thanks in advance

I've worked with plenty of buyers that have it and plenty that don't. I wouldn't say it's necessary to do the job, but it's certainly going to make it easier for you to get one. Especially as you will be applying for these jobs with no previous experience in a buying role and you'll no doubt be up against candidates that have either or both those things.
*CIPA should say CIPS
