U14's aren't supposed to go standing, I've seen plenty of kids that don't look 14 and never seen anybody get turned away.
Has anyone?
My under 16 son wasn't turned away but he was given a VERY strong warning from security to stay well clear of the bar.
Not turned away but seen plenty advertised for no U14, even some for no U18 (so not turned away because I wouldn't take my kids)
Might be tricky if the venue is eg: no U18's, such as in a pub or nightclub where it's perhaps assumed you'd know the licencing rules

No U16's
went to a very small gig at the Key Club in Leeds not long back, was open to all, finished at just before 11pm, photo ID had to be shown for a stamp on yer hand, and this enabled you to only buy one drink, I couldn't even buy two without the mrs (and we are early 40's walking 5 feet across the room to show them here stamp, venues take their licences very very seriously these days
this enabled you to only buy one drink, I couldn’t even buy two without the mrs
I encountered this for the first time a few weeks ago. Been going to gigs since 1989 but had never dealt with this. Basically whoever the drinks were for had to be at the bar when they were bought. Was a right pain in the arse having to both give up our spot in the crowd when we wanted a drink
I assume you mean one drink at a time, not one drink all night?
Yep, it's one drink per person/stamp at a time. So you can't go up and order 6 bottles on your tot, you have to have 5 other people with you who are adults/have stamps. But you can do that as often as you like.
I'll be taking him to Old Trafford for Green Day and to Wembley for Foo Fighters, wouldn't want there to be a problem on the door.
How much younger than 14 is he?
Under 10 - then yes you'll probably get turned away. The security staff don't know if you'll be standing at the back or in the crush at the front.
12,13,14 - depends on the kid and how old they look as theres no way to prove age.
My daughter, now 36, is of the opinion that my wife and I took her to see Meatloaf in Manchester when she was 4. She is entirely wrong in this. She was 5 and her older brother 7. After we were in and seated we saw other children turned away but somehow they were not noticed. Both remain lifelong Meatloaf fans.
Apart from passport can you get 14yr ID? Or even better what fake ones can you get🥴
We had to get Pixies seating tickets as I dont not want to risk getting turned away then leaving son outside waiting for me 😃
When we went to dog day afternoon it was age 12 and under free entry. Expected a hard time as he looks older. No problem, didnt even ask how old he was.
I went to Arctic Monkeys at Old Trafford in June with my lad (12), we had seating but after a couple of songs he wanted to go onto the standing area. I think that was 14+ but security on the entrance to the standing bit didn't seem to care.
I've got tickets to Foo Fighters at old Trafford and didn't realize it was no under 14's in standing. My Daughter is 13, will be 14 next October, gig is June I think. Hoping I'll be fine taking her if she wants to go. Other wise it'll just be me and my son who will be 16 then, wife will have to stay home with daughter.
I think this is venue dependant - I took my daughters (13 and 16) to see Inhaler at the O2 Forum Kentish town last week (Standing - no U14s) and nobody batted an eyelid - it helps that the 13 year old is taller than her older sister.
However i'm going to the Electric Ballroom in Feb to see another band, and a quick web search suggests they're pretty hot on it, so the 13 year old will be missing that one - just can't take the risk when we're on the other side of London to home...
Yup. Just a couple of weeks off 14, attending with parent to a gig where his uncle was in one of the bands. ID requested, refused entry. Several sober and polite adults reasoning with security did not help at all.
