Depends which estate, Harle Syke has some nice bits but can be rough around the edges. A few friends and some family live close by but I'm from other side of Burnley.
chudsey, it's just off Briercliffe Road/Burnley Road on the south side, Talbot Drive way.
Looking all over the place at the mo, but you get a hell of a lot of house for your cash in Burnley!
I'm in Laneheads, just below the Syke but also looking at houses in that area atm as well.
Plus Points - Close to riding - I'm 30ft from a bridleway at the moment, Good nursery and infants/junior schools, local pubs are ok, great views, easy access for the M65, going to Tod/HB Gorple way.
Downsides, It's in Burnley, had my bikes lifted from my garage last year, Poor secondary schools, it's in Burnley, tricky roads if it snows, fat bloke with a five living nearby, it's in Burnley.
Nice area, close to the main road and the parade of shops might be busier with groups of bored teens but most of "the syke" is pretty quiet. We nearly moved back to Burnley a while back but decided on staying in Barnoldswick.
Don't live in Burnley, just don't. We lived there for seven years until drug dealers moved in next door (decent area off Padiham Road) and life became hell. Burnley is full of scum; our son's godfather is a GP in Burnley and he says the town has the highest rate of incestuous childbirth in the UK, there must be something in that because Blackburn fans hate Burnley fans and taunt them with this song:

The reviewer for 40 Crap Towns went to Burnley and waited 45 minutes for a bus. When the bus came it was doing 60 mph and was on fire. As it shot past a car exploded down the road. At that point he decided to leave Burnley as fast as possible.
