Looking for advice re hanging pictures and mirrors from picture rail - Would one use [url= http://www.doorfurnituredirect.co.uk/scpro/bernards/productdetailsmore~productid~4717.htm ]wire/cable[/url] or [url= http://www.ironmongerydirect.co.uk/Products/Screws_and_Fixings/Hooks_and_Chains/502/Brass_Oval_Link_Chain/746343 ]chain[/url] with a [url= http://www.doorfurnituredirect.co.uk/scpro/bernards/productdetailsmore~productid~6090.htm ]moulding hook[/url]?

The pictures are ~1kg and the mirror is ~5kg.

What Al says.

Go to a framers and see what cord they have for hanging pictures.

But, yes, chain was often used.

Moulding hook yes. I use fishing line. It's rated to 32lbs and virtually invisible. Nothings fallen down yet.

Picture hooks and chain was the 'traditional method' - and there's nowt wrong with that!

In me photography studio I use the traditional hooks off the picture rail but with a monofilament (ie plastic) hanging 'wire'

We've used stuff from www.lionpic.co.uk

Not cheap but very good. Bought some wire and some of the plastic stuff Metal wire with cylinder hooks was best.
