Managed to get a low grade nag/pull at the bottom of my hamstring/tendon joining area (on the outside of the leg). Very localised pain. Actually came on when doing a very gentle plod but am wondering if it is linked to something else - The only thing I can think of that has changed is a new bike last week.
I've been cautious when setting up to ensure seat isn't too high. Shoes are old ones with no cleat position changes. I've done about 100 miles over a few days on the bike which is in line (probably slightly less) than my usual weekly mileage.
The reason I think it may be linked to the bike and not the run, is that i have a very vague (same) feeling developing in the other leg. I'm generally pretty flexible (yoga).
Anyone any thoughts as to what may have caused this?
Outside/bottom of Hamstring and outside/top of calf happens to me with seat too high (remember a seat that is further back can replicate effect of a seat which is too high...) and/or bars too low. Both just put a gentle amount of extra strain on hamstring tendons.
I've also done it just by maintaining an aero position for longer than I'm used to when chasing average speeds on long solo road rides 🙄
Thanks. It doesn’t feel overly that I’m extending for the pedals but that makes sense. I’ll shift it forward on the rails a touch….
