I’m in the market for a socket set and I know the Halfords pro stuff is well regarded. Is this the right price to pay or will it be massively discounted the day after I buy it?
I think about half price common for those sets when they on “sale” which is a decent part of the time.
Alternatively if you’ve got a trade card (or know someone who has) they get close to the “sale” price at any time.
It been several years since I bought mine so things might have changed.
I got the biggest one for about £125 on a bank holiday flash sale. It's been great.
That looks a not bad price, sure it'll probably be cheaper at some point but I still reckon it's not terrible for what you get.
Worth checking out Bahco as well, they're good reliable everyday tools that are good value.
The general rule with the Halfords Pro stuff is if it's under £1 a piece it's a reasonable price. I managed to pick up the 150 piece set for £139.99 on a black Friday deal last year, the lowest price I saw it for all year, so you can get them for under that level but you may have to wait a while. The killer thing with them though is that they are not only good quality but if you break any of it you just walk into your nearest branch with the set and the receipt and then walk out with the broken bits replaced from stock a few minutes later.
It's £95 with a trade card. I have one and they do home delivery...
Don't right off the 3/8th sets if your working on bikes/ engines. I've had mine for about 7 years and lost the 10 mm socket twice.
For under the car it's 1/2 inch all the way.
That set is £95 with a trade card I don't think it will be cheaper than that.
As above, I had a set of advanced screwdrivers and after oiking some torque on a seized screw, the Philips head gave up one spline. Took it back to the local store, no receipt, no box, no questions, they just swapped it for a new one.
I have the smallest and next smallest sockets sets and they do feel like really good bits of kit.
