I am blessed with a lot of hair. No baldness but I am going grey. I have spent most of my adult life with a buzzcut for ease. Its almost 5 months since I last cut my hair. But what style to get it cut into? I fancy long hair again but last time I grew it out ( a decade ago) it wouldn't get long enough to go into a proper pony tail and anyway its curly enough that what little ponytail I had curled up and looked like a man bun

So chaps - whats an appropriate hairstyle for a 61 year old man?

Have fun!

Ooooooh, this is going to be good.

Anyway, this is a 61 year old man, I think the common consensus is that he's not too shabby, so get hair like his:

Don't, for the love of all that is holy, be a 61 year old man with a pony tail.

I think Martin Kemp does a good job of embracing his inner silver fox
Linky
Being "coot bald" I guess it's one issue I won't need to resolve.

Does it matter? Just get "a trim".

Gave up having a hairstyle during lockdown. Bought some trimmers and give myself a no.2 (6mm) all over every couple of weeks. Saves a fortune and everyone reckons it looks better so win win. 62 by the way.

If you have a full head of hair over 50 you owe it To other men folk to do a Clooney and display it like a pea cock

The only time a ponytail looks good is above a horse's arse. 61 and just going grey now, lucky thing.

I disagree, there are many, many people of any gender with ponytails that look great with them. None, or at best very, very, very few, of these people are 61 year old men.

I always think the first question to ask yourself is how much effort you are willing to put in- that George Clooney hair cut is, obviously, very handsome but can you be arsed with the grooming? Or do you want to roll our of bed and head straight out?

No one will care, you're a 61-year-old man 😉

FWIW, even if I had hair, I would still shave it off - who can be arsed with having to "groom" every day!

I'd go "Full Rylan" in that case.  Crack out the grecian 2000 and get yourself a douche beard.  Teeth done and job-jobbed.

Ponytail? NO!
No. 2 up the back and sides blending into longer on top, choose a side parting, left or right and a bit of “product” to keep it in place. It costs me £12.50 and the lovely woman even trims my ear hair! Mind you your hair does look a bit coarse for styling..

Anything you like, there are no rules. If you've got the hair, go Keanu Reeves or Ethan Hawke.

Pick a member of Status Quo randomly, take a photo of them to the barber and ask for “that one please”.

Alternatively, something shorter on the sides and longer on top, lay it down neatly on one side with a tiny bit of product and enjoy espresso in picturesque locations.

You can’t go to a hairdresser and get longish hair unless you’re having extensions, growing hair takes time.

Remington trimmer with a 2.5mm comb attachment, five minutes going over once a week. It’s what I do. I used to get the barber down the road to do it, £10 once a month until lockdown, when I faced up to the inevitable and just took the lot off with my beard trimmer. It wasn’t that long, but it was such a waste of time and particularly money trying to keep what little I had in some sort of style. I’m 68, and realised I ought to have done it a long time ago.

Isn’t this a bit of a philosophical question along the lines of a tree falling in a forest - if a 61 year old man changes his hairstyle does anyone notice?

It’s a Clooney or Kemp that gets my vote. Be under no illusions though I went with Clooney and despite being 10 years younger, when I bumped into him in Henley once he very much remained the good looking one.

Eventually had to get my haircut last week, too much of it to fit inside my swimming cap.

I've went for a medium length undercut, still long enough on top for the natural curls to roam free!
