Mrs B has decided its time for our Springer to have a haircut.

We have in the past tried to use Wahl mains powered hair clippers designed for people. This was a massive struggle and they really werent upto the task.

Can anyone recommend something that will deal with my dog's fur and keep Mrs B happy?

Thanks

Ian

A groomer, £35, and you get to keep your fingers 🙂

We just bought a cheap battery one for our patterdale.

Did ok. It's our lack of skill that makes the dog patchworky

We bought a wahl dog specific one they also go under the brand name mosser max.

And a set of metal wahl comb attachments.

The dog specific ones are different to human ones in a few ways but basically a bit more industrial to get through much thicker hair.

Expensive but it's technically paid for itself in terms of savings professional groomers.

Getting a good even/smooth finish is difficult though and takes practice and skill but getting slowly better!

Edit.. It doesn't come with any comb attachments though if I recall.. So you'll have to buy one if you know what length you want, or buy a set.

They also only come with a very small bottle of oil, and your supposed to re oil them almost after every use.. So you'll need a bottle of clipper oil too.

3 spaniels here, only one has thick coat that needs cutting. Old Wahl clippers had died, so grabbed a new one wahl from pets at home, the £35 quid one. It did the job. Same thing just under £30 on ebay.
Go slowly, take half stripes if necessary.
I think the old one died as Mrs B never oiled the blades.

Wahl. Expensive but kept our cocker's coat trim. Came in useful for lockdown on the humans too.
