What do the shaven headed ones amongst you recommend for a proper short trim but not quite a razor blade job?

Rechargeable and likely to last a few years being the other key requirements

My Wahl ones are not rechargeable but going strong after 20 years. Not having a battery to die may help with longevity.

I've got a set with a ceramic blade and it saves loads of time oiling especially if you just want to give yourself a quick once over every other day...

I've got wahl rechargeable. Means you can stand in the shower cut your hair then rinse.
Also good for taking on holiday. I can't go more than a week without a trim.

Aldi had some Remington clippers for £15 last week, can't remember if they were battery or mains though.

I half-looked at them as my Friar Tuck solar panel is starting to look daft, so considering shaving it all off.

Phillips rechargeable here, with no attachment does a spot on job.

Remmington rechargeable. Cost about £20. Lasts about 5 years.

I'm on my third. £4 a year for 25 hair cuts.

Have both rechargeable and mains ones.

The rechargeable one no longer works, well it works barely with the charger plugged in. I could take it apart and replace the battery, but when I have a working mains one I realise life is too short. 😉

Do the recommended Wahl ones also clip close enough for beard/stubble trimming? I am currently using an iStubble (who came up with that stupid name?) but it is a bit random and sometimes leaves strange bare stripes on my chin 🙁

Depends how dark your hair is: I'm blond and it's fine, but it's definitely not shaving blade close.

They're also a bit wide and ungainly, so if you want to do any detail work (or trim nasal hairs...) they're not much good.

Go for a plug in and if you want to do your beard/chin at the same time pick up some Wahl Balding clippers. Without attachments it's shorter than standard hair clippers (I think it's classed as 00) and with the shortest attachment provided it's the same as normal clippers without a guard. They do come with a slightly longer guard as well and are compatible with all the standard guards.
The best thing with the balding clippers is the blade isn't adjustable and it makes them so much more robust when your cutting thick hair, a massive improvement over normal!

Wahl here too. No guard, once a week over my whole head and face (eyebrows excluded!)
Cost me £17 from Argos, around 25 years ago, and never skipped a beat...
