I belong to the local council run gym who have been refurbishing the gym for around 6 months. My membership lets me use all the facilities it also lets me use any of 5 gyms in the area although I just use the one.

Over the course of the refurb some of the facilities have been out of action for periods of between 1 week and 3 months which whilst frustrating I have accepted, this is not so good for members who just use weights as this will close for a month soon.

I've just read a letter saying my current deal £39 a month for everything will no longer include the sauna/steam room which I use after a workout. I will now have to pay £49 to include this or pay £39 and not use this.

Can they do this without me resigning?

if it's anything like when Orange changed peoples phone contracts you can choose to refuse the changes and terminate your contract. Better read the small print I guess though.
