Reckon they should have roped DC in as main presenter
They only brought DC along to reignite the embarassing mancrush from the F1 show.
The bromance was firmly cemented by the examination of GM's cobblers at the end.
I think Guy would have kept at it until he'd fallen off. The producer clearly had the record in the bag and didn't want the shot of the ambulance pulling away with most of Guy Martin in it.
Thought it pretty meh TBH.
Thank heavens I recorded it, I fast forwarded to the last 15mins or so.
Not one of his better programmes.
Thought it was a bit car crash TV, but not bad watching all in all.
Loved how he didn't need to be in the zone, warmed up or anything. Once he knew it was possible he just did it. Doesn't make presenting and building it up that easy - especially live.
Agree that he would have gone on until he fell off or flew off.
Well done to Shanaze Reade, even if her bit looked a bit rushed and 'oh, it's done' haha
[quote=Harry_the_Spider said]Whoever hired that presenter chap needs to have a word with himself.
Especially as CH4 chose him to host their F1 coverage this year 🙂
Fantastic job by the producers in milking about five minutes of action for a 90 minute show. I fell asleep twice.
Once he knew it was possible he just did it. Doesn't make presenting and building it up that easy - especially live.
Yup after months of training and a few warm up laps away he went.
There was only ever going to be a very limited amount of "wall time"
That is why they tried to explain the difficulties of sustained G forces,
Guy was basically blacking out (vision) - next stage passing out unconscious in
a very few seconds.
Didn't watch it.
Figured there were only 3 possible outcomes.
Success - watch it on You tube
Failure - Don't bother to watch it at all.
Blazing fireball of death - Watch it on the news.
watched it, enjoyed it. fun telly.
He really is going to spread himself over a runway/racetrack/whatever someday soon though isn't he...
I thought it was great to see a little spontaneity and real character on TV.
And come on, he was great value, as were his crew.
And I'm glad it was aimed at family audiences, it's a fairground ride after all.
I enjoyed it as a 46 year old, but if I was 8 I'd probably have exploded.
"and after 2 shorts laps to start he's coming in to speak to his mentor before doing it proper, he's doing this to fill time and pad it out a bit and to increase the tension as much as possible"
"so guy, are you nervous, do you need to get in the zone? please say yes so as to increase the tension somewhat and justify the cost of doing this show live"
"naahhhh I'm fine, just get it done, int it"
Did they weld up the suspension on those two bikes or did the springs just bottom out?
What were the G Forces he was under?

What were the G Forces he was under?
IIRC they said on the 78mph run he was holding about 6 and a half.
Battle of the Planets?
My daughter thought that it was ace!
My wife just laughed at DC's pink rinse under the lighting and his jacket, said he looked like an old lady in a supermarket.
Brrrrr kee op.
Best bit was after Guy mentioned the Camel Toe. That girl behind him had to take a good look at his sack!
Please someone make a gif out of it!!! lol
Caught the last 10 minutes.
How the heck did they fill the rest?
They swung a brick on a bit if string then dropped it in sloooooow motion so you could see it smash with the force. A piece chipped off but the dramatic music made it very exciting.
Drac, you are underselling it - they swung a tennis ball to lift a brick 🙂
Also don't forget he swung a mug too!!
he doesn't actually own a house
He's got two.
Sorry in all the excitement I got confused, I missed the mug bit I switched channels for 30 minutes after he did his first run.
So Terrahawk, did he 'have another go' after the cameras stopped? Bet it was good being there live...
Nope. De-rigging commenced pretty much immediately.
Shame!
