Fishtailing at 200mph and his main concern? Not enough teabags.

That was excellent.

More of this, less of the pedal boats.

The Hoy program was ok, but the Guy Martin was one of the best programs I've seen in awhile.

The team boss didn't come over very well, but he was right.

Rookie team, 2 amateur drivers out of the 3, first attempt at Les Mans and they finished 18th. Not bad.

It'll be interesting to see how Sir Chris does if he gets to go in a more experienced outfit next time.

I've done over a ton on bike there's no ****ing way I'd do 400 mph kudos Mr M.

The rest of the series has been underwhelming but this is what it's all about.

Glad this is so. Just watched the previous ones on catch up. Meh- especially the posh non-hydofoiling hydrofoil pedalo one.

"We've run out of tea bags" Priceless!
Loving the American team manager, not being able to understand a word Guy says on the phone or face to face, but as engineers, there's an instant rapport.

Or much as I find him entertaining - playing to his audience...!

I turned off the Chris Hoy program, he's just an average driver that's been fast tracked to where he is because he's high profile/has money behind him.

There will be a load of more talented drivers out there that are more deserving of that seat and would have got a better result but as is the case across most forms of motorsport the size of the cheque you write not your talent gets you your seat 😉

I think he's better than average looking at the results, but yes, there has been some fast-tracking.

Why did some of the le mans cars have yellow tinted headlights?? I know it is in France, but that requirement ended years ago surely?? ❓

I thought some of the in-car shots were the best seen for a while. Really enjoyed that part. Loved the driver changes - completed debunked the glamour of race driving.

I think some of the classes have to so they can tell a LMP1 from a LMP2 or a GT3, helps the marshalls and drivers know what they're seeing in the distance at night. Same reason they have glowing numbers now too.

Hoy's not a bad driver by any means, definitely up there with the best in the Amateur class of drivers. He has a budget so why shouldn't he be there? One of the keys to winning LMP2 is getting the best Amateur driver you can that works with your pro drivers, they seemed to get that right. Pity the original team fell though though.

It's to differentiate the different car classes. LMP have white headlights while the slower GT class has yellow. So if a GT driver sees white lights coming up behind they know to get out of the way.

Guy was unfortunate with the salt being too soft, seemed a good team though, knew their stuff and the team manager Matt was a proper bloke, loved how he and Guy just clicked when it came down to the technical side of it. Hope they make another program for the next attempt(s).

Hoy's team manager was a d**k, but there are LOTS of those guys in motorsport, it's very common, he probably has everything in that team. They did seem a bit slap dash in the preparation but came good for the race and the result spoke for itself.

Hoy is better than average, a fair bit I'd say - of course he's been fast tracked, and there might be people who are more talented as drivers, but all that stuff is bullshit to be honest, all motorsport is hugely expensive these days and you get nowehere without money, nowhere at all. Drivers have to be more than quick in the car, they have to be good with the media, presentable, fast enough in the car, bring some budget and attract sponsors.

Didn't catch the Hoy programme, Mrs wanted to watch 'Victoria' but really enjoyed the Guy Martin thing - more failure than sucess this series, but for me that means it's more 'real' if he kept busting world records week in, week out, I'd suspect they're picking the easy ones.

I relaly hope he gets another go, I guess by the rules of the event he's got to wait till next August.

Well I've just got around to watching Speed with Guy, pretty good TV even though I knew the outcome I was still gripped by the "journey"

But I loved the quote "usually riding bikes when you fall, it's road, sky, road, sky, road, ambulance"

😆

I loved everything about this one... it was just brilliant.

His approach to things and his skills are just exceptional.

I loved the fact that after it was Fishtailing, it stopped and he just pinned it again ! That right there takes massive balls !

I don't understand all the hate for the previous Guy Martin airship and hydrofoil programmes. I thought they were both very interesting. Am I just getting old?

The airship one was odd. Firstly it didn't really fulfill the 'speed' element of the programme title. 2ndly it was a finished and well tested bit of kit that was just in need of a new pilot. And to be honest not exactly a radically tricky bit of kit to pull off - couldn't hold a candle to the Gossamer Albatross in terms of complexity or achievement for example. The bit of fabrication there was was fiddling around the edges just to sort a fit.

The hydofoil one...well it didn't! It wasn't even a close miss - both vessels were miles off hydofoiling let alone getting up to the record speed. Orders of magnitude worse than the version they were trying to beat. You get the impression when the producers realised how far they were off with the Lincolnshire college boys they got the moth guy in to try and rescue something from the programme. And Guy's prep was pants too - he had the testing with Hoy and knew what power numbers he was trying to get but we saw no effort to try and match those numbers. We the viewer were left with no idea if Guy had the power to make the kit work. Maybe they realised the kit was so rubbish it wasn't worth the effort.

Watched the latest one now - was good. I hope there is a follow up programme to get the job done.
