Some urchin has emptied my paypal account at maplins and then like a dozy git bought £30s worth of dominos for delivery. So I have his address.

So short of bombers and shoe urine interface. Ideas?

Pour a bottle of fish sauce through his letter box.

Very lame, I know. Don't really do revenge.

Stick a note through his letterbox saying, 'you are a thick ****, but thanks for letting me know where you live. Put the money back in my account. Now, Please.'

Put something really smelly on the note for added effect, or a scary drawing or something.

Presumably he emptied it into his own account- in which case can you send a request for a refund along with a note telling him you know his address?

Hatfield. I'm notts.

My mates a cop. Txt him asking how to report. He said police won't be bothered.

I rang the pizza place up and told them to either not deliver or spit in it.

It would involve investigation
Better stats to just go out to domestics and arrest everyone.

It's a crime. The police deal with this sort of thing. If they don't, I'd love to know why not.

Phone up the dodgiest takeaway in the area, owned by gun-toting local gangsters if possible.

Phone up with your most genuine & charming voice, ordering a large takeaway for a party you're at with some unexpected (race of choice to suit takeaway speciality) friends that require feeding "Do you accept £50 notes, I have ID on me" etc.

Your credit cards are obviously, at home.

Bit of a trip just to wrap some bombers round his face sadly... You need to appeal to the good nature of some Herts dwellers on here!

Oh and it's online fraud. If your bank balance and credit card are linked to the account (and let's face it, most peoples are) then it's more likely the cops would be interested...

I think I'd be inclined towards a note through the door, something like "I hope you enjoyed the pizza, now I know where you live I'm going to enjoy making your life a total misery in future, unless you put the money back where you found it"
There's all sorts of remote retribution, like ordering all sorts of stuff from various places, like taxis, for example, and directing it all to his address.
😈
Looking at the photos, if it had happened to me, I could genuinely call on the services of a bunch of blokes not dissimilar to those guys; my brother and sis-in-law are members of a bike club based on an airfield not too far away, most of whose members were and are serving and ex-military; a pretty scary-looking bunch if you don't know them... 😉

PayPal wont report it to the Police for you.
Try legit routes best first, probably not the guys real name or even where he lives. If he's had access to your PayPal online then he'll also have your address...?

Ask the officer who you report it to for his details and tell him you'll report him. Fraud is a serious crime. Maybe the officer thinks he's too busy investigating petty crime for stats/easy wins.

Local police don't deal with fraud any longer
Action fraud deal with it, and if it's not a series they basically do rock all
The govt brought that in, to take work from police forces, because there are not enough cops any longer

What easy girl said.

Can't say I agree with it but with the explosion in online fraud and the huge cuts in police resources it's a very sad fact that things have to give.

I've just looked at Notts website though and it doesn't say a great deal. It starts by saying that they treat all fraud seriously but then directs you to Action Fraud.

But -like I say I think it's pretty appalling.

The only answer is kill everyone involved. 😈

Have people got any idea how they do it? I'm aware of spyware/Malware, but I assumed that's usually international gangs, with a bit more money/organisation than a local scrote.

I agree with some points here, what is worrying is that he seems to have a gift of emptying your account which is by any means not a feat usually affiliated with your normal scummy scrote who would be daft enough to reveal his address and have a Facebook account in that name, the lad may have been hacked along with you by a third party, think the fraud squad need to sort it out, hope you get your money back.

It's utter rubbish that this fraud isn't taken seriously by the police! Jeez what's the point?? For the future though, this website is quite good at checking your password strength https://howsecureismypassword.net/ There are no nasties in the code to worry about.

Hope you get it sorted out.

monkeychild Don't think it's about password strength, unless you link to software generating a new password every time?. OP appears to have made a reasonable effort on password.

One of the problems is that many folk use the same password for everything. You then use that to log on to something (seemingly) innocuous and some clever or lucky enough can get it from there.

I never use same passwords on anything containing monetary details, that would be silly!

Could be from: key loggers, xss, malware........ Do you do any personal stuff on open wifi? As that's an ace way for folk to meander onto your system.

This is what I think, I do all financial stuff only on my comp at home and reasonably often scan it with all the stuff I've learnt from here over the years, malwarebytes, ccleaner, adwcleaner, mbar etc. I'm a bit sheet on password management, but not had any issues.

According to the password checker above....

It would take a desktop PC about
4 septillion years
to crack your password

And that's just the one I use for here, my proper passwords are a lot more secure 🙂

Anti virus and anti malware is only good if the companies know it exist! Being aware and cautious is the main problem.

We have some malware which was done in house by a colleague to demo as part of the cyber awareness course I've started delivering. Upto date anti virus etc doesn't pick it up. But it's good at nicking people's logins, screen grabs and access to their files. Makes our candidates think about it.

Prime example of daftness, I bought my Chromebook off eBay, the woman gave me her google login (taped to the box) as she didn't know how to clear it. I had access to her entire online life. Luckily for her, I am not a criminal so I told her and suggested she changed her passwords.

Fair enough, but does that relate to the serious international gangs work, rather than local IT chav chancers? which appears to be the case here. Not down playing it, but appears to be different circumstances in this case.
