Maybe I'm being paranoid but, whilst I've never had problems selling on Gumtree beyond the odd obvious scammer, it pays to be cautious...

I've got a few ads up. Got a text saying they're interested in my ad (not which one, fair enough, they don't know I've got more than one) asking me to email them on <email>.

Why not email me on Gumtree then?

Anyone had anything like this before?

Edit: dammit, wrong forum sorry

Maybe they think they'll get spammed if they put their email into gumtree?

Its spam. They're trying to get to you before GT pulls/bans their email address for suspicious activity.

Sounds reasonable cody. Think I'll ignore it. If they're real and keen they'll try again.

Yes, yes, you got me, I'm selling stolen goods. It was so obvious wasn't it.

Harsh.
I've sold a few things through Gumtree - some time wasters admittedly too.

But the stuff I have sold has been to decent folk, and what I've sold ain't stolen!
