Within 2 minutes of posting an advert on gumtree 2 calls from indian call centres trying to scam me. So frustrating!! Like do these wasters have nothing better to do than snipe my number. Dont normally put the number on adverts but I wanted text replies. Trying to sell a rabbit hutch so not a stealth advert... anyone know how to prevent these??

Don't put your number on the advert.

List your number as a 0870 and embrace the scam callers.

I only put my email details, never phone.
I've noticed I usually get a flurry of enquiries shortly after the ad is posted - all with simple, mundane questions (what size is it? how old is it?), which I reply to and then never hear anything.

A more cynical man than me might suspect these are some kind of auto-generated responses designed to make us think Gumtree is more popular than it is....
