Do they still make the Mesa Boogie V-twin? I always fancied one of those.

Boss seem to make some good ones too.

I have an Electro Harmonix Metal Muff **s****** which is pretty good.

Think your really gonna have to try some w/your amp (or just buy the Bonger...it looks cool :-))

The V Twin is long gone, alas - I was desperate to get one. Saying that Blackstar do something very, very similar which I keep looking at 😉

I have a Marshall Guv'nor myself. The original version at that!

I liked my Marshall GV2, I heard the original wss better but even the reissue wasn't bad! The best I've tried hasbeen the MI Audio Crunch Zone. When run into my laney on a clean setting it sounded pretty much identical to the laney with its gain and volume wound up 🙂

MXR distortion +

Enough said.

Assuming you like your distortion fuzzy and grungy etc etc and less eighties metal.

I've got the Tight Metal pedal, but he does a range of pedals to suit your tastes. What style are you playing?

mikey74 - that is the very beast I was talking about!

Moving my office starting tomorrow, which should also incorporate getting the guitars and amps into somewhere more useable. Kinda looking forward to getting the 'Paul out again 🙂 One of those Blackstar pedals is on the list, and either a revalve/respeaker on the Peavey amp, or flog it and the Boogie and get something a little more useful.

Good test here:

Edit: You won't get the Pettruci tone from a pedal. Spend thousands of pounds on a Mesa Boogie Mark V amp and you might get somewhere near.

Or not as V weren't out then

Mesa Boogie Triaxis Preamp (x2), Mesa Boogie Stereo Simul-Class 2:Ninety Power Amp. It easy to find what was used

Now back to the original question 😀

Mark Vs are what he's used more recently, but the point stands: You won't get Pettruci's sound from a pedal alone.

i use a George Dennis GD100 wizard rock, which is a volume pedal with distortion. had it since the early 90s and it's been great for me (Gibson SG through it into a '73 marshall 50w plexi mkII head).

If you're after JP, I'd prob have a look at the wampler triple wreck or the blackstar ht pedals with their ISF feature.

If I was after one, I'd go for either the HT Metal or the MXR +

Is this to go with your 1 watter or do you have a US voice amp as well?

Edit - ooh, hang on. What about a Nova Drive? Surely that's gotta be worth a look? Works with the NS and does drive and distortion I think. Have a google 🙂
