My aim is to play the axe with no wires at all. Problem is I'm terrible so need headphones to spare the family.

I've got a wireless transmitter from my guitar to a G1 Zoom working nicely. I tried an MPow bluetooth transmitter from this to bluetooth headphones and the latency was a nightmare.

I want to avoid going through a computer if possible. Has anyone got a recommendation as to how to best do this/what transmitter to use?

I doubt your answer will be bluetooth... as a rule it's horrible for latency.

Maybe check out the various wireless monitoring systems available - presumably the systems used on stage will be at a sub 10ms level?

This sort of thing perhaps?

You can probably get headphones with similar technology to the guitar-focussed wireless receivers.

Off the wall suggestion: I use an iRig HD 2 connected to my phone. It's not wireless but I run it all connected to the guitar with the phone in my pocket and wired headphones. So I can walk about etc.

Or, I think cheaper, something like a Vox Amplug.

Expensive option is the Boss Waza Air headphones which look cool but are far too much money IMO.

Boss Waza Air headphones is your answer if you're tied to headphones.

If you can find some and they are not cheap. I've got a pair, they're awesome, drift with the gyro is annoying and renders it fairly useless if you're someone who has to look at the fret board (as I do).

The control app (on Android at least) regularly loses connection for me and quite a few others it seems but once you have the patch you want uploaded to them it doesn't matter as you can use the entirely independent of the app.

I have mine paired to my phone for the app and to my laptop for streaming tracks to them.

Crivens! those Boss earphones are pricey.

Now googling for a small amp that supports bluetooth headphones.

<sigh that's not going to work either>

You won't do it with Bluetooth.

It seems like a fairly mental idea as a whole if you don't mind me say! I'd just use wired headphones.

If you want to go wireless, then you'll need an iem system. Cheapest is stuff like the gear4music own brand one, which is truly awful to use live....I've got a Shure PSM setup that was north of £400....but then until recently I played for a living!

I've got a wireless transmitter for my guitar too....I haven't touched either since lockdown. All this gear still needs powering....often on none standard adapters, so you still end up with cables everywhere.

It's quit simple really I want to practise standing up but keep pulling things all over the place with the headphone cord. The guitar transmitter is brilliant.

I think the vox amplug is the closest you are going to get to a good solution for you requirements, without breaking the bank.
