I have an Orange dual terror valve amp and last night all the gain just disappeared in both channels. After changing outputs (8 to 16 ahms) it came back momentarily but then just faded away. Any idea whats going on and why this has happened in both channels at the same time??

Dead preamp valves? How many hours have they done?

Preamp valves was my first thought too. Has it got a separate Poweramp out socket?

No power amp out socket. No idea how many hours it has done but its been used most weeks for about 2 years. Plus i've been running it with the gain turned up high plus a boss distortion pedal also set pretty high recently. Could this have done it?

If i need a new valve set where would you guys recommend to go? Its a bit confusing looking online.

If you know the exact valves then just hit up ebay but Andertons are Orange dealers and will offer far better advice than me.

Apparently it's a good idea to stockpile valves....prices are going to soar in years to come allegedly.

I’ve got a Strymon Iridium to avoid that. The DT25 will be sold when I move back to Weymouth and the Boogie IV hasn’t been been used for 2 years so I’ll let that go at some point soon. I have a few sets of assorted valves for it but is super loud. Modelling amp and my FRFR speakers seem to be OK.

Fault with the guitar / lead / jack sockets ?

(i.e. check the obvious first)
