Mellow Sunday Guilty Pleasures, you say? Definitely the Carpenters.
When I was 15-16, me and my mate Bert* used to race BMXs. His dad would ferry us around to race meetings on Sunday mornings in his Toyota pick up. This huge, gentle giant of a  hairy-arsed tyre-fitter would be sat chain smoking hamlet cigars and I think the only tape he owned was the Carpenters Greatest Hits. I bloody love the Carpenters! I can smell the cigar smoke whenever I hear them and it always makes me smile 😃
*he wasn’t actually called Bert but we all called him that because he had big eyebrows like Bert and Ernie on Sesame Street 😂
Good one - Bacarach even wrote some of their hits. Karen Carpenter had a lovely voice
