Controversial opinion alert but.... I just don't get Talking Heads. Never have.
Seems like not everyone’s realised the answers been given. Meanwhile, winston and I are on the brink of a bromance. I guess This Must Be The Place where great things happen.
It’s Once In a Lifetime that someone like Winston and I share a common interest, I haven’t met him yet though, hope he’s not a Psycho Killer.

nah, not that controversial. They’re an art rock band, they’re not very gettable. If you know the singles (which are quite pop) then go and listen to the rest it doesn’t make sense. If you watch stop making sense it still might not make sense. In fact it might leave you rather confused. It might stop making sense…

Surely Girlfriend is Better?
A criminally underrated band.
That’s twice I’ve said this week on here (Space being the other, but TH are another level good).
Hold tight,
We're in for nasty weather.
House of Love is a criminally underrated band
Talking Heads are fairly rated - after all who puts out a concert like Stop Making Sense then never tours again? Great band, great film, huge legacy probably wouldn’t have had Radiohead if not for them. That’s enough.
wouldn’t have had Radiohead if not for them
True, they'd forever be 'On a Friday' for a start, and that was a terrible name.
Always feel like I’m slightly too young to get them (born 1974).
Really want to but feel like they’re just that bit of reach.
i like all the music of theirs i know- and I’ve sought it out- but can’t shake the feeling like they’re really a big brother or sister’s band.
Know what I mean?
I warned you about sneaking into my room and borrowing my LPs!
Human Centipede?
Well, that was a disturbing 5 mins reading - thanks.

Next thing is they'll be making Flippy Floppy.

I never thought there was much to get and there's less than meets the eye. Okay if you like that sort of thing and with some decent hits.
But Stop Making Sense is - I was going to say "one of the best" films ever of a gig, but actually I don't think I've a seen better one so let's make that an unqualified "best". Though that was a screening at Leeds Playhouse shortly after it came out with a fair group of us recreationally relaxed. So the opening scene where you're basically waiting for it to start hearing pre-gig noises, vaguely making out what could be a blurry stage which turns out to be the stage floor when DB's feet walk across it. Mind blown... 🙂
NME reviews around then were to the effect "he's got a new band and not bothered getting rid of the old one..."
Deep throat?
Yeah, totally agree - no need to overthink them. They made great novel (at the time) funky pop, had an aesthetic approach to performing and David Byrne occasionally said something on the human condition that was mildly thought provoking - pretty much the ideal pop band for me.
Plus if you like films of gigs which I do, Stop Making Sense wrote the book on the genre.
Never been a fan of Talking Heads but am a fan of Radiohead who took their name from a Talking Heads single 🤷♂️
