I know I'm a Luddite but 2 weeks on and I'm ready to ditch the new PC and it's accursed Windows 8. Even my tech savvy 9 year old hates it!

When we first set it up, there was a lovely easy to find Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar at the bottom of the desktop screen. Overnight this appears to have vanished.....how do I get it back please?

I feel your pain. Don't you just type something like 'internet' and it pops up?
(Disclaimer; I tried win 8, with my 12 year old, now with Win 7).

There is a program called startisback, obviously it gives you the start button back, but you still need to get onto your desktop to use it! it helps but W8 is a sorry piece of poo & this from the company that brought us Vista, you would of thought they would of learned by now.

Cheers.

In the process of trying to destroy all the W8 features to get the SO's laptop to look like W7.

There are various ad-ons that strip bits and pieces of the interface, problem is that the crap is still there just below the surface.

The one question i have, how do you close apps? with out Ctrl Alt Delete?

We seem to have fixed it now - glad it's not just me. Can't wait to see how quickly Windows 9 appears to replace it....

It will serve Micro$oft right if everyone moves to Linux.

Does Alt-f4 work? Anyway, key to win8 is to spend a bit of time learning your way around and look up the list of keyboard shortcuts (someone posted a great list on here about a week ago but I can't find it, sorry). It would be better if you didn't need to do this but it is worth it

Close apps? Drag them to the bottom of the screen and they disappear.
