Do people honestly have nothing better to do then moan and whine. Before anyone asks - yes I am one of the people affected although I do happen to be overly giddy and cannot wait for the 6 July.
That said the tram stop in to town is in easy walking distance and you could park your car on a side street with easy access to the Northern General hospital (and most of the rest of Sheffield) within a few hundred yards of any of the affected houses at worst should that be an issue.

He was on radio Sheffield a couple of mornings ago. Every "issue" he came up with was quickly dismissed with a solution by the presenter and he became more and more incoherent with each even more ridiculous problem he came up with!

People not getting their sunday paper was the issue I felt was the most pressing one.

due to the local harrogate rag running scare stories prettry much constantly, my housemate is taking his kids (7 & 11) to butlins for the weekend. he is worried that the crowds will make moving around the town (we live over a mile from the centre) impossible, even on foot, as the town will be on lockdown, and 3 million people will turn up. hes also worried about all the 'drunken louts' that will be invading the stray, so his kids will miss out on the best thing to happen to their town for decades.
As for all the drivers complaining (housemate included), I just remind them that driving is a priveledge, not a right...

We are so lucky to have such a comprehensive road infrastructure, yet some seem to assume that our privileges are actually god given rights.
Maybe he should take a trip to one of the many parts of the world without such an infrastructure to see how people solve problems rather than just sit around moaning (usually because they're too busy getting on with survival).

My first reaction matched the above and I was halfway down to the shed in search of my trusty pitchfork. As I wiped the blood of the last misunderstood classified shyster from the rusty prongs I realised he may have a point.
The bit of Sheffield he lives in will be entirely cut off by the route, no way in or out by road. The TdF route comes around on three sides and the fourth is a river valley without a bridge. If I had to get to work (and had to drive) or was reliant on home help to get dressed, wash, eat etc I'd be pretty narked. Agreed, he comes across a bit ranty but he's probably not been on media training. Read his 'personal view' on the last tab, he makes a sensible suggestion to maintain access and it sounds like the council have been doing their brick wall impression.

@SA - you could leave your car not more than 500 yards away from your house in just about any point in Foxhill and walk to it on the Sunday and avoid the closures.

EDIT: It is but a short walk to the nearest tram stop as well if public transport is your thing also.

I applaud you efforts at becoming the most miserable, whining so and so I have ever had the misfortune to stumble across locally. The effort you have put in to your one man hate campaign of a website is staggering, admirable even, if utterly pointless. You raise absolutely no issues of merit and that cannot easily be overcome by just a little bit of foresight and planning.
The TdF is a fantastic, global event and we are utterly privileged to have a stage finishing in Sheffield. For once Sheffield will be seen by millions of people worldwide and it will be shown off to its finest (so long as miserable sods like you keep off the TV).
Indeed it is almost unbelievable that Yorkshire was chosen ahead of Edinburgh, London and Florence. I may be making assumptions here but imagine your rage had London been chosen ahead of us 'forgotten northerners' - I am sure you could have done an even better campaign website.
For the record I am one of those affected by these road closures and I count myself privileged that I am on the Tour route.

He would have a stronger argument if this was something that was thrust on the area at short notice. This has been planned a long way on advance and plenty of notice given. Too many people in this country, when faced with a problem, waste huge amounts of energy blaming others and moaning, presumably in the hope that the problem will be solved for them. When life throws up a problem, try solving it yourself, you might be surprised how much easier your life becomes...

I've got this amazing ability to plan things like this around my life. When I am notified of an event happening in my little town, I am able to make a balanced judgement of whether or not I want to support it, how much it will affect my ability to move around/enjoy peace and quiet etc and then do something called "going away" if necessary.
Clearly I'm actually unique in this capacity, what I should actually be doing is setting up my own website to moan about it all.

I was speaking to someone from welcome to Yorkshire at an event recently and she had plenty of similar tales. People who always go to the supermarket on a Saturday and can't come up with an alternative plan despite having months of notice.
I just wish it was coming closer to my house - passing a mile down the road means my commute route doesn't get resurfaced...
There was a bit of similiar grumbling about Tweedlove this year too, apparently making a kabillion quid for the local area isn't good enough reason to close the village green for a couple of days and slightly increase bike traffic on a shared use path, or something

I'm not sure I follow. Foxhill does seem to have its fair share of older folk, and depending on where you live in Foxhill it could be more than 2 miles to the tram stop on Middlewood Road.
It's also not the most salubrious area, so maybe folk who would otherwise "go away" while the TdF is in town can't afford to.
While the guy's tone is maybe a bit whiny, he certainly has a point.
No he hasn't. Only a small bit of the whole of Foxhill is affected - those across Skew Hill / Salt Box Lane (more Greno really) are fine.
It is just a small 'triangle' and people can park either up across at the afore mentioned Greno junction or across the A61 / Halifax Road and they are fine.
Absolute furthest to a tram stop (Leppings Lane) is just shy of 2 miles but there will be buses running on routes closer than this.
