I need to run an Aco across the width of my drive. Eventually it'll get block paved but for now I need to do the minimum to sort the runoff from the drive going under the house.

Clay pipe looks to be a soakaway as it's going away from the main foul which runs up my drive.  How do I plumb in the Aco to this clay pipe? I've got about 4 inches to the top of the clay where the downspout goes in from the level outside the front door.

Might be easiest to break out the 90 degree clay elbow and fit a modern drain gully to reconnect the downspout, with an extra socket to connect the aco.

PS I'm not a ground worker but that would be my first solution.

(Or pipe the aco direct into the soakaway and let the gutter drain into the aco if the roof area isn't too big)

Might not run to a soak away, could cross over to neighbours. We have multiple dirty water drain’s running in different directions.

obvs doesn’t answer your question 😐

Looks like it's had the foundation poured around it, not sure I can cut the straight part of the clay without cracking it. And there's a big chunk to break out, and the gas pipe in the way. I think you might be right though.

The next 6 houses in the street foul runs under my extension and then up the middle of the car port and up the drive.  Invert is about 2m down. I will have a look down the manhole with a hose in the rainwater pipe to make sure before I start.

Get rid of the clay elbow IMHO and replace with something modern. Salt-glaze clay causes problems with foundations when they crack unseen

Ok, how to cut and join to the clay straight?

You can get either internal spigot connectors or external adaptors

Have a look at either the McAlpine or Flexseal catalogues

Screwfix 130 - 110 rubber adapter to join modern underground to clay.

However, in my experience any attempt to cut the clay result in it cracking.  A diamond blade might be the way forward.

It doesn't look like you have the depth required above that clay to set your aco drain in.

Are you wanting to just divert the roof run off , or drain the run off from the drive away from the garage temporarily?

French drain might be the way forward if it's only gotta last a year . You could slot out a 68mm rain water downpipe and bury it under pea gravel. Quick , cheap , effective.
