Each year I get a letter asking for £10 ground rent which I've been happily paying for the first 3 years since moving in. Last year no letter until final demand so I paid their £50 admin fee but sure didn't receive their earlier letters.

This year I've set alerts to expect the letter this time of year but nothing. I ring the company who say they've sent letters this year and that they'll need to ominously 'look into things' as I've been paying ground rent but not registered on their website.

Am I in for a world of legal pain and cost?

Can you buy the freehold? I'd be looking to do that ASAP, now you've been in a couple of years, else you risk the owners hiking it up, or adding spurious charges, as you've experienced. It's only going to get worse...

I pay ground rent its the only cheque I write. So I prepay a couple of years in 1 go. I would not have paid the 50 quid admin, just challenge them to prove they sent out the bills.
