Groin pain after hip replacement?

Had my left hip replaced 3 months ago, all going well, ahead of plan most of the time, but in the last month a groin pain has become the big issue, guess it wasn't an issue with swelling and muscle repairing and so on, but it feels a bit off compared to the rest of the recovery. Pain is mainly in getting in and out of boxers/trousers, leg raises are a killer after a few, it feels really tight when stretching in certain areas, then move a few inches and it's no issue at all.

Just wondering if this is normal or i've pulled/damaged something, wasn't an issue, but now the most annoying thing, especially trying to strengthen the muscles that were damaged via physio, and hopefully moving back on the bike as normal (well without any dangerous stuff from now on :()

Nothing useful to suggest, but have you given recovery enough time for each stage?

Contact your GP or surgical team that did the op.

I've done the required exercises, restrictions, etc, just seems to have shown up in the last 2-3 weeks and feels like a proper groin strain at times, the problem is that it's actually getting in the way of recovery via the physiotherapy i should be doing.

Are you due to go back anyhow for a review? What did the post op management information suggest to do?

I am waiting to have mine done and been told it wont feel great for up to a year !

Had my 6 week review, updated X-Rays, etc and all good, range of motion was better than expected and so on, just this groin pain now, just went in the car there and getting in with the left leg first is annoying, just stuff that wasn't happening a month ago.

Got a physio appointment tomorrow so will bring it up, my 1 year assessment for the hip is next October.

Ah! Thought you meant physio had finished. Yes, speak to them they’ll have a good idea.

is that NHS physio or private?

NHS physio have the ability to arrange some scans if needed (not sure what they do when you cant have another MRI)

I can't say it will be the same for you but I injured/pulled/over worked a stability/balance muscle in the groin a few years ago and the fix was in effect humping a tennis ball - placing it to where the pain was and press and dig it in as hard as you can take the pain. It was in spasm and this was the way to fix it. For me though it was excruciating pain and I couldn't sit/stand/lay down to alleviate it for weeks until I saw a sports physio who suggested the tennis ball and some stretches, the pain was instantly improved to just a little annoyance after he stopped the spasm within 5 minutes of seeing him. I find when I injure my lower back due to lifting the wrong way (not knees bent etc) or over working the back, all the areas around hips/groin etc get affected one by one as it gets better.

Currently have a lower back issue from an injury taking my son to a trampoline park, I landed awkwardly on the trampoline and all the energy from the very high bounce I achieved went through my legs up to my hips and back. this was over a week ago and still got slight pain. During his time other pain has occurred in different areas as I try and compensate for the pain as I walk. It's possible you are positioned ever so slightly differently to before as you go about your daily life and therefore working muscles etc slightly differently leading to this groin issue?
