I noticed an illuminating parrallel between the response by Michael Fallon to the complaints about the lack of adequate response by the FO to it's carribbean responsibilities, and the excuses put about by the Kensington & Chelsea council on just about anything they were supposed to be doing but were not, in the aftermath of Grenfell.

Both bodies' claims of proper behaviour seem diametrically opposed to the actual situation on the ground and continue to be so, almost as if they think bare-faced lies and obfuscation will convince.

Indeed, almost as if they are either so incompetent or so don't -give-a-shit that they actually can't be bothered.

I'm inclined to think that the claims made by what the STW in-house triumvirate describe as "lefties" on here, are accurate.

The current (weak) UK power base in control of the levers (ie: the Conservative Party national and local), actually hold the mass of the population over whose care they have been entrusted, in complete contempt.

It seems to me the only question that remains is: are you one of them or not and if not, what are you going to do about it?

It doesn't take much poking around to confirm demonstrably that the current bunch of Tories are shafting ordinary and marginalised people right, left and centre. And this is happening in virtually every sphere of their lives - from eroding the rights of workers and tenants, and limiting legal representation, to increasing poverty and privatising the NHS by stealth. Thinking otherwise is either delusion or stupidity.

One wonders, after the election of the Wiley Bearded One, the Conservatives will sit around asking themselves in all seriousness - "Where did we go wrong" ...

So much so that they just tell some lies and get on with whatever agenda it is they're working to. And it works, so the Great British Public fully deserve the contempt they're treated with.

Don't be silly May chairs a COBRA (cool name) committee meeting and everyone feels better.

There's absolutely no truth to someone suggesting that the last decade of austerity has left the country unable to cope with such emergencies or that cute have made us more vulnerable

Definitely not the case that the black hole of Brexit is sucking in all the legislative attention for the next few years as the gov tries to figure out how to make it work.

Also we are sending Borris Johnson to the Caribbean, which is great for May coz he can't keep contradicting the gov , what he will do for those affected by such a devastating storm I honestly don't have a clue
