Vital holiday information when choosing which airport to depart from ..

I moved back to the NE last year.
I was so happy to get back and the only bad thing is Newcastle Airport. Absolute shite hole.
It was fine when owned by BAA, baggage was a bit slow but otherwise it was fine.
Now it's horrible.
East mids our local airport has a Greggs in the arrivals lounge. What ****ing use is that!!!
Tbh ..I haven't been inside the airport for a few years now ( it used to be a daily occurrence ) ..Im a little bit taken aback by that Gobuchul as it was always well maintained ..
Last time I flew from Newcastle was about 15 years ago & It was ok then, but there again Teeside (or whatever It's called now) airport had more than 2 destinations to go to!
Its soooooooo boring! There are no shops and nothing to look at! Even the wine bar stops serving food at 7.30, WTF!?
It has gotten pretty shit. Flew out from there few weeks ago 21.00 weekday and nothing except bar was open - all I wanted was a bottle of water.
You'd think vendors need to at least be open when punters are about. Sure it never used to be this bad.
It has gotten pretty shit.
Customs checks aren't quite as harsh as they used to be though:
Auf Weidersehen Pet. Classic.
Use it 5 or 6 times a month. As little airports go it’s pretty bloomin fantastic. Security is really quick, passport control is fast (unless you land at the same time as the Dubai flight). Airport shops are, meh, airport shops.
The only real complaints I have is that the aspire/KLM lounge is dingy and that occasionally they’ll fail to unlock the magnetic security doors to baggage claim for the last flights. Thankfully the magnets are no match for 100kg of coffee riddled northern IT monkey.
The only good thing about Newcastle is that not many planes leave there so it's normally quiet.
Arrived back up and all of us waiting for out first out bags were stood for ages, the lazy **** who was meant to deliver my bike up to me just looked angry he had to do some work.
Putting a crap pasty shop in there won't persuade me to fly from there
The Greggs shop has been there for a while the article was more about the fact you could take the "crap pastie"* through security .
*..much prefer their cream cakes myself ..fresh cream apple turnover ..mmmm.
Can't see the problem with a Gregg's pasty. One of My Ironcrusts specials would be something to worry about.
Greggs alert …Newcastle Airport .
Woohoo! Absolutely excellent! I like!
Now all they need to add is some proper fish & chips.
That will do me nicely.
🙂
P/s: I am not one for "posh" airport but one that is very "local" ...
pp/s: Newcastle airport is 100% better than those shite Heathrow international airport rubbish. 100% better. I prefer to fly from Newcastle to far east rather than suffer the Heathow London airports ...
Airport security is brilliant as they instantly know if someone is talking porkies ... all they need to do is speak a bit of Geordie ... 🙂
