As some of you are aware I am doing the Great North Run along with my wife on Sunday, stepping up from 10K to a half marathon. I've done the training, not without injury, and managed to complete the distance three weeks ago which was a big confidence booster. Best laid plans and all that this week my wife has got a cold and I've got a tight, wheezing chest. Having just got back from a short run despite borrowing my mothers inhaler my heart rate was sky high and I was sweating like a pig.
Sunday is going to painful and hard work but it is all for good causes as we are running for three very worthy charities. If you want sponsor us as we cough and wheeze our way from Newcastle to South Shields please do, it will be very much appreciated.

Thank you all to help from here with my training especially the nipple tape.

Good luck to any one else who is running and enjoy.

Good luck, it's my 4th time and I still love it, yet to crack the 2hr barrier though.

Thank you. Breaking 2 hours is just a pipe dream for me at the moment, I need to lose a lot more weight to get those kind of times. Hope your break the 2 hours this time.

Good luck you two!

my third time, but first for about 6 years.

hoping to go under 1.40, but i think it's touch and go. running 7.35 miles is fine for 8 or 9 miles, then i implode...

Cheers, good luck to you.

Running 7.35 min/miles my head explodes just wishing I could.

I did 1:45 13 years ago and not run since. Find out if I've got a ballot place for London in a month. Fingers crossed!

Good luck with the London marathon ballot and I think you might need to buy some new running shoes.

Well I completed the run though it was way too hot for me. The last mile was crippling as I kept getting cramps. No sooner had I git my goody bag and medal than both legs cramped up solid and ended in the St Johns first aid tent. I'm now hobbling around with one calf that is sore whilst the other is swollen and very painful. I'm also very sunburnt.
Great event, well organised and fun, so glad I did it but won't be doing it again unless I'm 100% well.
Congratulations to all those who also competed. I might try again next year but with the XX taken out of my user name, as 21st is a lot to drag around from Newcastle to South Shields.

well done mate, it was a tough, hot day

i went off way to fast, ran the first two mile in 14.20 or something, really paid for that the last three miles, but stuck in, and went well under my 1.40 goal - 1.36.51, so delighted with that.

it's a great day, so many amazing people running for great causes. well done to everyone that finished...
