Good morning all.
After greasing - via the grease nipples - on horse trailer over-run ram over the weekend, I was completely cack-handed and managed to pull one of the nipples out. It looks like a press-in nipple.
The diameter is 6mm for the part of the nipple which was pressed into the trailer housing.
So - would it be the case of tapping hole and putting in an M6 thread new nipple?
Thanks in advance.
You'll probably have to go up to an 8mm thread if the outside diameter of the bust one is 6mm.
Popular grease nipples come in a variety of fitments. 1/8 BSP AKA 1/8 "Gastap", 6mm coarse thread & also taper fit which are basically hammered into a suitably sized hole. The hammer fit ones look similar to M6 but with no thread.
If its roughly 6mm it'll be one of the latter. You might get away with hammering a new one. Alternatively there might be enough clean metal to tap M6.
