Hi

Having ridden Torino-Nice back in June (not as part of the more organised rally, just following the same route) my riding buddy and I are keen to ride something similar next year.

Any recommendations of similar gravel/road routes that we should be considering? We’d have a maximum of a week, but shorter routes would also be considered as that could lead to two trips rather than just the one.

Many thanks in advance for your thoughts.

bikepacking.com is your friend.....lots of routes.
Also look at Cycling UK - King Alfreds Way, Cantii Way, west Kernow Way, The Great North Trail and more.
Other routes - NC500?, Pennine Way, Trans Cambrian Way, 'Further East', East Anglian Way, Southern Uplands Way, Second Coty Divide, Sandstone Way, Badger Divide, Highland Trail 550, The Old Chalk Way, blah blah...theres loads out there. Google 'em!

I'm in South Germany so would say TransAlp, You can tailor the difficulty to your taste and available time.
Classic is Garmisch to Lake Garda, Fly into Munich, get a bus back at the end of the week.
We did 3 days Garmisch to Bolzano on a long weekend. 2 hard days, Day 3 was easy, stopping for a couple of wine tastings in Eppan.
Alternatives are lake Constance to Koenigsee or the 5 day route through the Bavarian/Bohemian forest (N-S)

Montanas Vacias in Spain. Less of a mountain route than TNR but looks like such a good place to ride.

@Jameso,
For the Bayerischer Wald/Bohemian Forest, I use this as a basis. It's MTB oriented but you can play with it a bit in Komoot:

I have wild camped a few times but there was a bit of a crackdown this summer, so stay at cheap hotels - they work out about the same as campsites when you build in the breakfast.

Or use this to plan:
Check out this Collection on komoot — I think you might like it! "Sportlich: der Bodensee-Königssee-Radweg – MYBIKE Spezial" https://www.komoot.com/collection/898659/sportlich-der-bodensee-koenigssee-radweg-mybike-spezial

Thanks so much for the ideas - plenty of food for thought and ideas to spend some time pouring over maps for - sincerely appreciated.

@jameso - and a huge thanks to you for the TNR route - was both epic and brutal in equal proportions, but a trip which will stay with me for a long time - cannot recommend it enough 🙂
