Anyone got one?

Can you fold the rearmost and middle rear seat down to wheel a 29er in backwards keeping a seat up either side?

Probably with front wheel off and a fork mount in the centre rear of the boot floor?

Musing one of these vs a swb tourneo connect as they seem better value. The sloping rear roof of the grand c max may foil my plans.

My bike is about 2m long in total, 1.7m front wheel off.

This website says the older Grand C Max has a boot floor of 1785mm to back of front seats

Looks like I could just wheel is back there between the kiddywinks

SMax owner here, you won't be able to get it in upright.

Form that website:

Vertical height of boot on s max is 794mm

Grand C Max is 980mm (again, older version)

How tall is the bike though with the wheels on?

I can just about do it with a 29.
A dropper makes it really easy though.

I used to occasionally do just this with my old vauxhall signum. I imagine it'll go in no worries (wheel off, seat down) in a grand cmax.

that said, it appears RIDC have tested the 5 seat version of the cmax (not sure if its available here) - I expect that has a deeper boot then the front-to-back height as the rear seats are missing

7 seat version here https://www.ridc.org.uk/features-reviews/out-and-about/choosing-car/car/ford-grand-c-max-10-ecoboost-5dr-mpv-2013

the height is 832mm. You might be able to unbolt the rear row of seats if they came fitted (not sure)..

edit - I can get my dh bike in a galaxy this way if its of any help..

Yeah it isn't happening with front wheel on.

@zippykona is yours a 2016 "era" car or the older gen? What bike?

that said, it appears RIDC have tested the 5 seat version of the cmax (not sure if its available here) – I expect that has a deeper boot then the front-to-back height as the rear seats are missing

Ah I didn't notice that. I don't think we got a 5 seat Grand C max like I linked, just the smaller C Max. The Grand seems to have some kind of false raised boot floor at the very back for some reason, not sure why as the rearmost seats just pivot flat forwards.

Still the rearmost seats can be removed (I would only need them very occasionally). https://www.cmaxownersclub.co.uk/threads/removing-the-rear-seats-from-the-boot.11311/

edit – I can get my dh bike in a galaxy this way if its of any help.

A galaxy would maybe be an option, but I think it might be unnecessarily big most of the time with detriment to fuel and handling. Obvs an S Max might have suited, but they are mega popular and hence hold their money. The Grand C Max seems completely unloved and hence, good value.

Here’s a 26 in there.

Thats what Im talking about!

But I'm imagining putting the bike in backward and simply rolling it in on the back wheel and clamping the fork into a mount near the back door, and getting in the pub first.

Many thanks for the pic! How is it otherwise as a vehicle? Any concerns other than the usual?

Wzzz. It's a 2012 so I think it's the same shape.
My fat bike which doesn't have a dropper needs to be tilted over slightly to get it in. I wear 30 inch jeans so the seatpost isn't miles in the air.

Right I'm quite excited by a dumpy MPV.

Looks like the rear boot shelf bit is a false floor which reduces the height vs the 5 seat one in my RIDC link, and could be discarded - but perhaps don't need to as I have 200mm dropper. Road bike might need seatpost dropping out tho.

We have a 1.6 petrol and love it. It does struggle fully loaded on big hills.
Really easy for old people to get in the back and we love the sliding doors.
