Just bought a PS3 from the son in law (£40.00 including 7 games 🙂 - I'll bung him a bottle of whisky).
Picked up a copy of GT6 and am quite impressed so far.

Anyone fancy a bit of a challenge?

Best Nurburgring time on GT4 was 7m 59.05s with a tuned Clio V6 Racing Car.
Should have funds for one of those shortly, so I'll see if I can improve on that.

Anyone else playing this at the mo?
Best Nordschleife times?

If that's a bit too much of a time investment, how about your Tsukuba times?
On GT4 I'm on 51.87 seconds in the Impreza Super Touring car.
No time set for GT6 as yet.

Anyone else sad enough for this?

Regards,
Pete, aged 44 and three quarters.

Does anyone else really struggle on the Rome circuit in GT5, once the car's get past 'sporty' it's like driving on ice!

Can't remember if it's Forza or GT but one of them had an 80's Porche LMP car in the arcade/quick start version which was our households challenge on the Nordschleife, you had 2 options, lift off and and it slid off the track at warp speed, keep the power on and the aerodynamics kept you on the road, untill you slid off at warp speed, attempt a combination of the two and the turbo would kick in at an inapropriate time sending you off the track at warp speed!

I've skipped GT5 - only get a console once the successor has been released.
I'm that cheap. 🙂

Local Asda are selling brand new copies of GT6 in the preowned section for £20.00.

Best Nurburgring on gt5 was about 6 mins, in an F1 car 🙂 no proper f1 cars in gt6 though, only the redbull x20xx which are fantasy land quick (300+mph...), and nigh on undrivable!

a good way of doing this is to all choose in identical car and pick a track, then post lap times.

How about GT6, Nurburgring Nordschleife or Tsukuba, anything under 500PP?
Gives a long or short option and should cap power at a sensible level.

Don't have GT5, does it have PP?
If so, we could use either?

Yup 😳

How about we post times for the online challenges to keep things fair?[/b]

I prefer driving the mid powered cars, so much fun! I always turn all aids off including ABS, as when ABS is activated it also actives active steering even if you have it switched off.

I haven't driven Nordschleife on GT6 yet, I'll give that a try. 🙂

Not that I've noticed? Though I only have it set at 1. (as most, not racing, cars have it equipped)

how about an up to 500pp, up to 600 pp, up to 700pp then the skys the limit category on the nurburgring (not the 24hr one)

Then a go kart one for the masochists 😈

You wouldn't find it realistic molly. All the cars work faultlessly.

😀

Use GT5 whilst you're saving up. 🙂
That way I can blame the differences in the two games when you beat me.

Fine by me.

Free run (time trial) mode is what I've always used, but got to be the full Nurburgring circuit.
I've spent bloody ages learning that one!

Tsukuba's a good one because it's the first track listed under the Free Run options, everyone's played it loads of times, it's short and we can pick out favourite cars.

As long as we're not cheating too much with the driving aids, should be fair!

So that's GT5 or 6.
500, 600, 700 and unlimited PP categories.
Any car, any tyres.

Free run, single car time trial on the Nurburgring Nordschleife or Tsukuba circuits.

OK with everyone?

free run in the garage bit on gt6 doesnt record your time, you have to go into single player arcade mode and do a time trial.

I suspect everyone will be on full racing soft tyres then 😉

still on ps2 🙄 actually I've sacked off consoles all together as we only have 1 TV in the house so me getting time on it....no chance

Loved GT 1&2, 3 seemed a bit tyre wear crazy, iirc 4 laps and you had to change on some cars/courses.

YOU might've had to change tyres.. 🙂 Learning how to drive without knackering tyres was one of the most interesting and instructive computer driving experiences I've had.

Bollocks.
And Arcade Mode Time Trial doesn't record your lap times if you run off the track either.
Which is going to make the Nurburgring pretty impossible.

Any ideas?

Haven't checked the online options yet.
Can we all just meet up for a race?

Off out for tea, see what you can come up with. 🙂

Got bored with GT, especially load times. I'm loving NFS Rivals, can get quite stressful.

Right, time for a touch of class....

Tsukuba circuit on gt6, racing soft tyres, with ASM if the car would have it and 3 laps in each, apart from the last one, that took a few more goes....

Ferrari 250 GTO 58.565 474pp

Ferrari 288 GTO 57.016 520pp

Ferrari 458 Italia 53.465 583pp

Ferrari FXX 51.028 629pp

Red Bull X2014 Fan car 40.322 964pp and, as I've just found out, a top speed of 502 kph!

Ok.

Tsukuba, GT6
57.869
MX5 Roadster Touring Car, Racing Medium, 500PP.
Anti skid on, ASM off.

Nice being able to reduce the power slightly in the settings to bring it in bang on 500PP.

does the sony network not have timed league tables?

On xbox I can race a specific car on a specific track and compare myself to anyone else in the world for that car and track. I can even watch their reply to see where they're faster.

I'm loving GT6. Much better feel through the wheel than GT5.
Been playing online with a mate this week - great fun.

Lancia Integrale at Brands Hatch was great!

I'm surprised lap times aren't stored online to compare against friends?

I would like to join this challenge but cant justify bying new game, still smashing buttons on GTAO. I bet if CampKoala came in GT6 he would smash all no end.

I once raced camp koala on gt5. Humiliation isn't really the word as it implies at least some kind of competition.

However reassuringly he is crap at shooty fighting in GTAO, even worse than me which is somewhat satisfying 🙂

I might sniff for 2nd hand GT6, fancy joining STW race. I still remember Molgrips as the dirtiest racer from GTAO.

Tried Nordschleife was only able to get 3 laps in.

7:24.327 - Toyota 86 GT, 500P, Sport Soft Tyres
TCS off, ABS off, ASC off, SRC off, AS off (all AIDS off)

I forgot how good Nordschleife is!

Innit?

Not had much time to practice, but first Nurburgring lap was 8.01 in a BMW Z8, with all the aids on!

Will have another pop later on.

Got used to the Nurburgring when playing all night Tourist Trophy (GT, but with bikes, great game) sessions with mates - such a good track.

That 8.01 was in a race - Schwartzwald League, race 3.
Tyres were sports soft.

More practice this afternoon.

Still loving this game. Such an improvement over GT5 wrt the car's handling/response etc.

Gonna need a new wheel soon at this rate. Anyone own/tried the Fanatech wheels?
