I’m having a bit of a problem paying about with GPX files and don’t know if I just need a different app or if there’s a limitation with GPX files that I don’t know about?

So I’ve downloaded a route but want to change it a bit, maybe shorten it or move the start/finish, should I be able to do it? Does it make a difference if it’s a manually plotted route vs a recorded track?

I think I’ve managed to do both things with Ride With GPS on the computer but am not having much luck on my phone, I only have free RWGPS so route planning isn’t an option in the app.
Is there anything else I can use?

Here’s an example one I was trying to move the start/finish to where I’m planning on starting from, the triangle, but I can’t move it.

Cheers for any ideas 👍

That looks like OSMaps, not RWGPS. But editing GPX files is always a pain on a phone, it's just so much easier with a mouse and a bigger screen. I find Garmin Connect to be best on the PC.

Yeah that is OS Maps, it was just to show the screenshot.

I’ve just been playing with Komoot, OS & connect.

Problem with Komoot is as soon as you move or add a point it just joins the start and finish up together in the shortest way - about 50metres!

RWGPS might do the job but I think it’s £60/year?

Ah, so RWGPS does do it, I’ve just managed to move the start / finish. But it doesn’t let me save it without upgrading, which is a reasonable amount of money just to tidy up a couple of routes.

https://gpx.studio/ is what you need. Hands down the best GPX editor I've ever used. Its completely free, but if you find it useful do make a donation to the creator to keep it running.
