“The National Defense Authorization Act would give the U.S. military the authority to arrest and hold in a secret location, for an indefinite period of time, anyone suspected of being a threat to national security, and, just like the Patriot Act, deny the person being held the right to confer with defense counsel, and, also, without charges being presented in court, or even the right to trial"
“I have signed this bill despite having serious reservations with certain provisions that regulate the detention, interrogation and prosecution of suspected terrorists.”

Comments, rather surprisingly for the Sun, seem to back me up..
To be fair, plenty of British citizens would also try that if our legal system was set up like that (although worryingly it is going that way).
You often here about these cases but how many actually get payouts?
I am intrigued to see how this one pans out to be honest
I'me sure I read about a case in the US a few years ago about a guy who'd gone to a bike shop to test ride a bike, he was offered a lid to wear but declined, he subsequently fell off & bumped his nut causing brain damage. IIRC his family sued the shop cos they didn't insist he wore the offered lid!

Naa, he'll be fast asleep at this time of night.
Oh sh*t, he might appear tomorrow!
There was a cyclist in the States who was riding drunk, in the dark, with no lights, and ran a red light. He was hit by a truck and was partially paralysed. He successfully sued the parent company of Raleigh Cycles for not fitting lights to his bike, and telling him he needed to switch them on after dark.
I read about that first in Bike Magazine, ages before any UK media picked up on it.
The NDAA and SOPA acts basically mean the US want to pwn the Internet, and if your name pops up on any lists that indicate you might be involved in something iffy, well, you'll be disappeared just like in Chile, or Iraq under Saddam, or Syria.
