You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I can't believe how crap I was at seeing things until I picked them up, except I keep taking them off to look at stuff and going 'nah, you see I can't read that, but I can with my glasses'. Was all going well til my brother laughed and called me four eyes 🙁 Not looking forward to the 'now your used to them you can try contact lenses 🙁 yuk
Well, its a downward spiral after you get your first pair of glasses. I'm on my 3rd pair after 5 years, with each pair of glasses my prescription has got worse.
I did kind of know to expect it, I had become slightly short sighted after the last test two years ago but not enough to need a prescription. Glad I've got them know though, designer ones obv 8)
So you can see every detail of your other halfs RC helicopters now as they wing their way round the house... 😉
yup, sadly 😡
g/f wears glasses, she's hot. 😉
Glasses are truly crap 🙁 I hate the things. However they can look very cute on women 🙂
worn glasses since i was 6, you never fuly get used to them, but when i wore contacts a couple of years ago i looked wrong? Oh and at least you won't have the playground issues to deal with. Not just the comments, I broke 2 pairs in a week just running around.
Well, ben seems quite happy with them which is something. I've told a few people I've got them and they've replied 'I've got perfect vision so no worry for me 🙂 ' like I give a flying poop. 😯 lol
I quite like them, tempted to wear a skirt an high heels tomorrow, get in the spirit of the whole secretary thing, 🙄
But then again maybe not, I'll stick out like a sore thumb
Ive worn em since i was 3,i'm 36 now.
Grown to like them,enjoy
Speccy!!!
pictures this useless thread is without
I've had glasses for 30 years. wear contacts some of the time, if I can be bothered.
I will not be offering my eyes to the laser geezers
Specky, 4 eyes, et all, again heard it all before... I've had glasses since I was 9ish (39 next month), some lovely horn rimmed NHS specials.
Optician warned me mum, as a boy I might not want to wear them... **** it meant I didn't have to sit 3 feet from the TV to watch it, I loved em as it meant I could actually see properly, and have never had a problem wearing them.
Face it everyone gunna have to wear glasses (ok, maybe contact lenses) at some point, even those that get eye laser surgery....
they look like mine....will try and find a pic

they are Osiris. Ohhhh, lets turn this into a show us yer glasses thread!!!! That will make me feel better if there are lots of four eyes around!! 😆
Gonna give them a go for a few weeks then go back and choose my free pair from speccie savers
ah mine are "Police"
They look good
Mine are Prodesign from Denmark.
Only had them since Sept, one eye is bad the other is fine. The bad eye started to fall asleep when i was driving. I am not even up to full lens strength yet so things will get even clearer next Sept. 8)
I've worn then since I was 10 - noticed I needed them when I started .22 shooting. Wear contact lenses for some sport (jumping when horse riding, anything outdoors in the rain, skiing) and occasionally for stylistic reasons. Have enjoyed becoming a multiple different glasses person since finding Glasses Direct (cheap!) Normally wear glasses when cycling but after having to ride blind (well ~3.5 dioptres out) on a particularly filthy wet and and muddy ride last year will be going with contacts and clear riding glasses for future wet rides. Yours look good!
Don't be distracted by all the details on the ground that you can now see when riding - I was amazed how well I flowed when I could only see the vague fuzzy outline of the approaching singletrack...
Has anyone ever seen RD and Emma82 in the same room?
For a moment i thought that was a double post..
😉
Mine are osiris as well, I actually quite like wearing them, they make my face look less fat/round 🙂 Don't wear them enough though as I just can't get into the habit. The difference they make for watching tv and films is quite amazing.
OMG sharki, how did you guess! I shaved my beard off an all!!
been wearing specs since I was 6 (now 40).
I started wearing contact lenses for sport and rainy days about 15 years ago and thats when my prescription stopped getting any worse , my optician suggested to me that many spectacle wearers peek out of the edges of their glasses and this causes strain on the eye which in turn can lead to the need for a stronger prescription.
All I know is my eyes aren't getting worse at the moment.
Emma, you look very nice with the glasses.
Why thank you mooman 🙂
Has anyone ever seen RD and Emma82 in the same room?
Well I must fancy RD then because Emma looks hot in hers.
Come here Mr Dog, kissy kissy.
I stopped fancying her when he announced it was getting married.
😳

That's usually when my fancying process starts.

Coulda gonna Specsavers!
I went to Specsavers! No more snogging randoms at trainstations for me 🙂

Don't think I would cope with contact lenses, I've got a real about touching my eyeballs 😕
Is now a good time to post the picture of me in the bath and you can guess if it's me or Emma?
rocketdog's packet of fish panda is both epic and truly surreal.
It was cod night 😉
Worn specs since 1981. My prescription has been stable.
Got my first pair of glasses today!
Not taking the piss but did you get a 2nd opinion before you bought your Gregory's?
Worn them since I was 13. What a joy that was at School. Don't notice them any more. Contacts for cycling are a must as there is nowt worse than steamy windows.
Fish panda?
Don't do it rocket-not the bath picture, the cat will be well and truly out of the bag then
Not taking the piss but did you get a 2nd opinion before you bought your Gregory's?
Yes thanks 🙂
Been wearing them for reading/computer only (or close-up,fine,detail work with small screws, etc)for 15 years now. First 10 years I had to get a new, strong prescription every couple years, but it has leveled off and has stayed stable the last 5 years.
Thankfully I don't need them for distance, so can bike without them (do keep an old pair in the camelback in case of trailside repairs.
Start saving for prescription Oakleys.
I got an eye test last year. The optician say's 'yeah your going to need a prescription' sende me out to the front shop. The waiting salesperson, (this was Vision Express btw) tells me I'd need to part witht the thick end of £300 for various eyewear, none of it Oakley.
I baulk and decide to go to the opticians up the road before I splash the cash. He does, a more comprehensive test and informs me I have 20/20 vision. Not saying thats what happens all the time. Just sharing is all.
OP, all the best with your new bins. 8)
I went to Vision Express once and was wholly unimpressed with the amount of time they spent checking my eyes, mainly with an automated machine. SpecSavers did tests for three times as long, again with a machine but the optician was making the alterations. The latter was much more reassuring.
Oh, thought you meant second opinion on the glasses I chose. No I didn't go to a second opticians but I'd say they were right in their assessment, the difference is immense. They certainly didn't push me to buy a certain price range pair but the more expensive I went the more comfy they were. Didn't need varied focals??!! either but apparently they are more expensive
I like them!! Glasses rule - I didn't wear my glasses for years because I thought I looked hideous in them, now my eye sight is getting rapidly getting worse. Damn teenage thoughts making think I was invincible and would never need glasses if I didn't wear them!
I feel naked without them now!
Tricky thing though - glasses are difficult to ride with I find! Mine are like yours, I find I look over the top of them all the time.. need to find a way to get prescription riding glasses hmmmm
My other half has prescription riding lens things. They weren't cheap I don't think but I'm sure he had some a while ago, they looked really good, well they looked like riding glasses so they didn't look any different to normal actually!!
Make your secnd pair reactalite aviators.I got mine from Specsavers and there great for riding.£45.00 plus lenses.Never come of once and instantly change shade with light changes. The great apes
i been wearing glasses since 1979, (i was 10) wore contacts for about 10 years (25 to 35) but cant be bothered with them now, plus they arent as comfy as they used to be.
current pair are prescription oakley square wires, ive had them 4 and a half years, they still look like new and have outlasted 2 pairs of my wifes specsavers ones.
they cost £380, my wifes cost £22o each time, so the oakleys have worked out cheaper.
you quite suit yours, hope you dont mind me saying.
Just remember, with glasses you can put the end of the leg in your mouth when someone asks you a question and say "interesting".....that makes you look dead intelligent and that
and you look very nice in your specs.......you too Rocketdog
i wish i could get the end of my leg in my mouth 😯

(email in profile)
Keep on buying them people, my daughter is halfway through an Optometry degree and will need to earn a living
Perhaps now she wont end up going northbound on the M5 for 20 miles when heading TO Cornwall (from the Midlands).
Spanky how rude!
Thanks for the offer mooman, I'll keep you in mind 😯
Well, first day didn't go particularly well, have felt sick and dizzy all day whenever I put them on and end up feeling like I'm about to walk into a door or wall whenever I walk around in them. Is this normal? 🙁

Were you drinking heavily yesterday? I find that sometimes causes the above symptoms.
She needs a drink for breakfast just to get through the day....
No I didn't
and
No I don't
first time i wore glasses i remember because i was sick. the world went very very odd!!! Your brain compensates for the crap eyes, so when the lenses are added the brain has to uncompensate. give it a day or so and i guess should be ok. If it carries on go back to glasses shop.
What i was told by an optician was that some people don't get on so well with the higher refractive glasses that are more common now.
I had to change to varifocals a few years back, but got on with them very well straight away. Optilabs do good value cycling glasses with prescription lenses - one of the few to do varifocal lenses. I got my optician to help confirm the precise prescription to them and they got my prescription spot on, and the lenses seem set so they compensate for the bike riding position.
I find my the world goes very dizzy for a good few hours every time my prescription changes a tiny bit, it's amazing how quickly your brain does adjust though 🙂
And then you'll just feel dizzy and sick when you don't wear them!!
i got my first pair of reading glasses last month after feeling what i thought too be eye strain, but i'm not getting on with them, they do seem too strong and i read better without them
btw like a tit i spent a bomb on prescription oakleys
but if you gona look like a tit..... you may aswell look like a tit in oakleys!!
