BBC website says he will flare out the wing suit and slow down to 15mph.

edit. unless thats different to the gliding speed in which case it will be around 50mph. ouch

Mr Connery, ...said performing stunts was "his life"

Hopefully he'll still be saying that afterwards eh.

Yup 15mph in that direction V and 50mph in that direction ->

Wonder if they could do it with some sort of huge arrester net?

Given the height of some cliff jumps snow boarders and skiers do I have wondered for quite a while of a similar result could be achieved jumping out of a plane onto a steep snowy slope with a big board strapped to your feet. But to actually have the bottle to do something like that !!!!

Hopefully those boxes had a former life carrying loo rolls - he's going to need some after that!

Sky being sky wont let a small issue of an accident get in the way

The landing strip will be 350ft-long, 40ft-wide and 12ft-deep. If he miscalculates his approach he will have a split second to abort the jump and deploy an emergency parachute.

Emergency 'chute. Guy's a p*ssy 😀

SKY:

Wingman @garyconnery jump now delayed until about 3pm or 4pm. No problems, just waiting for optimum weather we think.

I'm still a bit surprised that the 18,000 cardboard boxes cost £22,000 quid.
I don't doubt the figure, just would have failed dismally if they were running a guess the cost of the boxes in the field competition.

You would've felt differently if he'd died?

That's a good question... I'd probably be glad I hadn't witnessed it first hand, wouldn't I?

But still... it's what I'd secretly have wanted to happen.

I suspect once all the go-pro footage, multiple camera angles and pumping sound track are mashed together then more people will go wow. As it is people have to rely on their imagination a bit.

a higher camera angle would have been better rather than just see him disappear into the boxes

This evening I shall recreate that magnificent feat by pulling a sleeping bag over my head and taking a running jump into the cereal aisle at Tesco.

Thats insane! I dread to think what Jeb Corliss is going to do about this. He strikes me as somebody who is quite competitive. Maybe he'll do it without the boxes??

He will jump off an enormous pile of boxes onto a helicopter. That'll show 'em.
