Guys i bought an active shakedry jacket a few weeks back unfortunately it was rather snug shall we say! I could have kept it just for road use but wanted spmething for doing a bit of everything mtb road etc and the cut just seemed wrong. Now im looking at the 1985 version of the jacket and going a size larger

Can anyone tell me if this version is a bit more of a relaxed fit please? Have done lots of googling but cant seem to find a direct comparison and no local shops stock it.

Cheers

Yes, the 1985 jacket is SLIGHTLY more relaxed fit so should suit you better.

Yes the 1985 is a slightly more relaxed fit. However there’s a reason they’re roadie fit, they’re fairly fragile and not pack friendly as they would wear at the shoulders quick.

That said it’s the best most stunningly waterproof and breathable jacket I’ve ever owned, I wouldn’t be without it now but it’s used for commuting and road rides only.

Great thanks guys much appreciated

Idont use packs anyway.

So if the medium on the other one was a snug roadie fit. Should i size up on the 1985 and go large?

Depending on your budget, this jacket is Incredible

i got it from Evans when it was reduced to £240 and used £120 Tesco clubcard vouchers doubled up so it was very cheap.

It’s a more relaxed fit and meant for mountain bike use. Best jacket I’ve ever had.

The neck detail is better on the Castelli version, it zips right up. The 1985 has a wierd flap that leaves a gap for water to go straight down your neck. Castelli sizing is slim fit so I'd try before buying or buy L and XL and keep the one that fits best. BTW, I bought the Gore jobbie and it's great apart from the point outlined above.
